Owner, Chris Gustafson of Gustafson Landscaping, WILL NOT complete your job, as promised. We had to take him through Arbitration with the BBB, and won. However, he will not pay what is owed to us, and will not fix our irrigation system to bring it up to code.

From the get go, he was rude and inconsiderate. I regret the day we hired him to create a dream yard...now it's a nightmare! Even after paying him thousands of dollars!

Make sure you investigate him thoroughly! He isn't even legal to install irrigation systems! He'll want a ton of money upfront, then bring it to your bank to cash, immediately...what does that tell you about him. He charged us to level our yard, mulch brush, etc...however, our yard is FAR from level, and guess what, being he didn't finish the job, the brush that he charged us $700 for removing, is back! What a waste.

Please look him up on the BBB website, this will prove that we had to take him through arbitration. He lost his membership with them as a result.

Response to an unhappy customer

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, June 17, 2009

This was a simple job of delivering black dirt, leveling the yard, and installing an irrigation system. The customer Sandra Nelson of Princeton chose to purchase a cheaper black dirt from another company of lesser quality, in addition to the dirt I provided her. After the irrigation system was installed, I seeded the yard and fertilized. After two weeks a heavy rainfall washed away a large amount of seed and dirt. I came back and reseeded. A month later the grass was growing in great.

The following spring Sandra called and stated her yard was lacking grass in some spots. I brought her a dump truck load of black dirt, two bags of seed, and fertilizer. I spent half a day raking, leveling and seeding her yard to perfection. (*the empty spots in the yard were only where the other companies black dirt was placed.) However, I provided Sandra with $1000 worth of services in order to provide great customer service.

I received a call later in the year from Sandra stating some spots still were not growing and returned to her yard. Again, without charge I brought black dirt, seed, and fertilizer. I noticed a fair amount of "washout" which were caused by heavy rain. Sandra was displeased with the results of her yard and was demanding me to redo the entire job. I explained to her we (Gustafson Landscaping) were not in the position to do any more work to her yard. She expected my company to care for her yard, it is the customers job to cut, water, fertilize and reseed your own yard sesonally.

Never have I had such a displeased customer. I ended up spending twice as much money fixing and redoing problems she was unhappy with, including running copper through the basement instead of poly which is the same product her water is brought into the house by the well. Another $1200 to have a plumber come in and run copper to accomplish the same purpose as the poly pipe. I did most of this work to try and keep a happy customer, in the end she ended up being the most dissatisfied customer I have ever had! I did everything I could to make this customer happy. I never thought it would come to this!! :(
