Complaint Review: H Bell & Son Rochdale LTD

I employed H Bell & Son after i noticed one of their vans on the street, in which i lived. I asked the neighbour who was having the work done, and they said they had had no problems, so i arranged to have my kitchen extension built by them. The builder was called Micheal Welsh, and at first he was very pleasant and punctual, but then half way through he stopped turning up when he should, ignored my phone calls and after taking 95% of the money, left and never returned. I tried several times to call and get him to come back, but to no avail. After many months of trying and having to save up more money to get the job finished by another builder (as he had took 95% of the money and done about 40% of the work) i got another builder in to complete the works, it was then that i found out the foundations hadn't been dug deep enough and the brickwork and blockwork had been wrongly built, so long story short, i had to have the whole thing ripped down, foundations dug up and redone from scratch at a cost of of over 40,000.

It as also been brought to my attention that the neighbour who was having the work done had similar issues. So let this be a lesson to everybody, wait until works have been completed before getting references.
Anyway i am now trying to recover my losses through the courts, but i don't expect to get my money back when i win, a VERY expensive lesson learned!!!!!!
