I ordered two HAAN Steam "Cleaning" Floor "Sanitizers," plus two short handles and trays and two extra pads, from the infomercial phone number. I got them to sanitize my daughter's and my houses for the coming new baby and current family allergies.

I followed all the instructions, but found the machine very hard to push, time consuming, and it would not reach under the kitchen cabinet. Mostly, when I wiped my hand across the linoleum floor, that I had gone over at least four times, my fingers came up black.

So, I tried it on my hardwood floor. I got the same results. My son-in-law tried it on their new tile floor. He also found it hard to push and very slow.

I don't believe the floors could be sanitized if they weren't even clean. I didn't see any point in even trying to sanitize mattresses or carpets with that machine.

The HAAN advertisement claimed ease in cleaning and sanitizing floors, counters, mattresses, and carpets. That just is not true. It also claimed the pad could be washed in the washing machine. It can, but it won't get it clean.

Also, they did not send one of the short handle and tray sets I ordered.

I have yet to see if they will refund the purchase amount, as guaranteed. I asked for my $65.43 in shipping and handling to also be returned since the problem was false advertising, not just dislike. They called me and said they could not do that. So, I am trying to inform other consumers not to buy the HAAN floor steamer. I still would like my $65.43, at least, refunded.

Haan Floor Steamer

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sat, June 27, 2009

I too have ordered the Haan Floor steamer. You must thoroughly read the directions. Yes it is slow to push, all steamers within that price range are a bit hard to push. The Haan Floor Steamer is one of the easiest to push. You must use your mop slow in order to give your floor a good clean. It will take about 3 to 4 cleanings in order to appreciate the product. Afterward it is easier. When cleaning tile floors remember it cleans the tile only, it will not clean the grout. That is even stated in the commercials. It is a bit difficult to clean around corners. I had to do my floors 3 times to fully appreciate the steamer. It os a bit bulky for counter tops, but it can be done. It dos leave a minute amount of water on the floor but it dries in about 1 to 2 minutes.
I have tried several and this is about the best out in the market unless you buy what I call a real steamer which run upward $1000. These do clean grout because it has brushes, and etc.
I have four dogs, one 16 year old child and 7 year 14 year old which are always into sports, and dragging filth from outside. My floors are spotless. My whole house is tiled and I do have some large rugs. It sanitizes the rugs, but it will not clean the rugs, this is mentioned in the instruction manual. All in all I'm satisfied with the product, but it does have a bit of a learning curve to actually master it. Hope this helps anyone interested. No, I do not work for the company.
