Complaint Review: Haines & Krieger Attorneys at Law

       I was considering chapter 13 bankrupcy, but didn't enough knowledge to make a good decision. I saw Haines & Kriegers commercial on TV and thought I would take advantage of their free initial counseling. I made an appointment on line and it was confirmed by a phone call.

       I showed up for my appointment and was told I didn't have an appointment , but if I waited , they would see me. In I about 20 minutes I went in to see Mr. Krieger. He sat there poker faced like I was interupting something important he had to do. I couldn't say much , but was pointed toward Chapter 13 bankruptcy. According to what he said, it looked like that was the way for me.. He dismissed me and a legal assistant came in to take my information.

      I thought if Chapter 13 is the way for me, I would go ahead and give a retainer fee down payment, and get the ball rolling. They told me I would have to take an online credit counseling course and when I was done, it would cost $50. Then they could start the bankruptcy paperwork. I gave a $200 down payment and left.

      That night , I started the online credit counseling, and immediately realized that it was not what I wanted or needed. I quit the course and decided to call and cancel my bankruptcy . When I called , I was told by the legal assistant that my $200 retainer was forfeited. She said , you should read the small print..

      This sorry excuse for a lawyer, under the premise of helping people in need is actually stealing from them. He did nothing for me, and still took my $200.

       I know , he was only doing what lawyers are known for, but I will get satisfaction.  If you have been ripped off by this law office, please contact me. This needs to be taken further legally.
