I have been going regularly for root touch ups. Have had a problem on the last two visits, with the color applied to my roots. It washes out within 7-10 days.

On the second occasion, actually returned to the salon less than two weeks after the root touch-up to show her how the color was gone at the roots where she had applied it. She told me to schedule another appointment and she would see what she could do.

Upon arrival of scheduled appointment, she told me that the grey roots were just re-growth. I reminded her that she just applied the color only 2 weeks prior. I reminded her also that this same thing happened on the prior application. She and her supervisor were adamant that this was regrowth (despite the fact that it had been only 2 weeks since last application).

The correct thing to have done was for them to admit that the color they had been using simply was not penetrating the hair or
staying on. Then they should have worked to come up with a color product, or color mix ratio that would last at least 4 weeks.  Instead they tried to shift the blame on me by saying it is regrowth. A 1/2" regrowth does not occur in just 10-14 days.

I have been a hairstylist for 18 years and I can  tell you that in 4 weeks the average regrowth is a half inch. Sometimes a bit more, sometimes a bit less depending on your rate of growth. That means that in 2 weeks you will have approximately a 1/4 inch root. If you color your hair substantially darker than your natural color/grey the grey hair or natural color will be much more noticeable as well.
