I was in the shower when my brother knocked on the door and told me that the police were taking my car from the driveway. I got dressed and went outside to talk to them.

As I walked outside, the wrecker was just pulling away with my only means of transportation. The officer approached me and told me that since the tire was flat, that made it a suspicious vehicle which allowed him to get in and check it out.

He said that he pushed the brake and it went to the floor. According to the officer (and the city of Hamilton), this was grounds for impoundment and a citation for "operating an unsafe motor vehicle." After being dragged through a lengthy dispute with the court, the Judge told me that he wasn't going to waste any more of the court's time, and that I was obviously guilty of operating an unsafe motor vehicle (from the shower.)

I never did get my car back, because when I finally got the $400 for the impound fee, the car was already crushed.
