Complaint Review: Hammerhead Backyard Games - Vern Smith

 Vern Smith with Hammerhead Backyard Games in Monroe, Georgia is a thief and and a lier.   For years I used his services, but within the last 6 mos. of 2013 we saw a trending decline in the way that he operated.   June 2013 it came to a head when we were not getting good communications anymore.  Texting was the only way to contact him, and even then all were lies in the end.   He shut his website down the previous month and we should have seen the writing on the wall, but he keep accepting our money and said that we would be one of a few that he would still cater too, since we had a long relationship and we sent him a lot of orders.   Customers were emailing us asking where their orders were come late June and we kept asking Vern for tracking #'s and if they shipped and he assured us they had, but fast forward to July it was clear it was all a lie.   He had ~$900 of our money and customers' money and he failed to ship anything, period.  10 paypal claims were opened and are currently pending, but we won't hold our breath that we will ever see a penny of it.  He probably knew all along that he was going to steal the money and run.   We would attribute it to either money problems on his end or drinking problems.  Nobody knows, but my wife and I are extremely frustrated and upset with the way his character took a dive south.   In our opinion, he is no more than a thief and lier.  DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT HE TELLS YOU.   You will get burned in the end if this is how he would treat someone in a good long-standing relationship.   If I could give him less than 1 star I would.
