I am very devastated and dissapointed to even have to submit my first Rip off Report.  I have lived in Orlando, Florida for many years and have rented and purchased property in Florida and in Atlanta, Georgia.  I recently wanted to rent a larger space and researched reputable companies to seek a rental home (I have heard horror stories and never thought I would have my own).  I found Hampton and Hampton Property Leasing in Orlando and the website looked upscale and very inviting.  I finally found a home on their website and met with a representative to walk through the property.

First red flag - I get to the property and walk through it, thinking that with some work it will be a nice place.  When the representative calls it in to the office he finds that someone walked through the property earlier that morning and had already placed an application.  I was angry because I was supposed to see the home that morning and the representative called to move it to the afternoon.  He told me the cross scheduling happens all the time and that as long as my money was in first it did not matter who placed the application first.

I wrote the check and was approved.  I aked him to ensure that before I signed any contracts to please make sure the issues I noted were resolved.  He told me he would.  A few days later he resigned and went to another company.

I was passed over to another representative that met with me to discuss the issues with the property and even more was observed. broken and warped cabinetry, lawn still high, broken doors, screens, large dead bugs in each room, stained ceiling, range with missing parts, filthy fridge...the list goes on!

This is where my STUPIDITY and blind faith in people kicked in.  I believed her when she said they would resolve the issues...to date they have not been resolved and it gets worse.  I later discover with the help of her cleaning crew that there are roach eggs throughout the kitchen cabinet and crawling all over the fridge.  

The cleaning crew simply wiped everything down and left. this really happened to me and writing it makes me feel like an even bigger idiot!!

Within 2 days of signing the contract I asked to cancel...the response was sure but we are keeping over $1000 of your hard earned money because we do not care that the home we leased you is not fit for even the roaches that are crawling around it.

It does not matter if it is Hampton and Hampton or any other property management company. read you contract and sign NOTHING until all repairs are completed.  If they are not..move on, it is not the home for you!  Just because the website looks good and they brag about knowing Tiger Woods and all the other nonsense that adds a "cute" factor does not mean they are professional.  Customer service means nothing to them and many other companies in a bad economy.  They made over $1000.00 for doing nothing but providing keys to a bug infested home.

If I did not have a heart, it would be tempting to start my own business rob people of their money too.  The money they took from me takes me about one week to earn and they did nothing to earn it.  I still have to find a residence and will find ways to share the truth about this horrific experience with others to prevent them from going through the same.
