We were enjoying a cup of coffee in the lobby of the Hampton Inn in the early afternoon when we were approached by a gentleman who did not identify himself. He asked if we were guests at the hotel and when we responded "yes" he continued to interrogate us with what room were we in and what was our last name. There were other guests in the lobby at the time; however, we were the only ones that he approached. The manager on duty at the time apparently pointed us out to this gentleman as they continued to discuss us as we walked past them to our vehicle. Later after lodging a complaint with Hilton Corp., the gentleman left a message in our room identifying himself as the owner of the hotel property and said he was just checking on how our stay was. Never in his conversation with us did he ask how we were enjoying our stay. It was purely a discriminatory interrogation apparently because they suspected we did not belong in the hotel. From that day on, the female manager who had apparently pointed us out to the owner, never acknowledged us nor did she speak to us at all in the days following the encounter. In fact, she gave us dirty looks and looked away because we had filed a complaint.
