This company is the most unprofessional, most ragtag operation I've ever hired.  Not only that, but they are also expensive.  I hired them for minor repairs around the home that I was selling after contacting Berkshire Hathaway for a recommended handyman service.  They quoted me to come on June 28 and 29 (a two day job) for $1300-1700 for power washing a deck with waterproofing, fixing a hole in the closet wall, 2 window screens that needed to be replaced, fixing water damage on the bottom of a wood counter, taking out a stuck, broken light bulb, fixing an outside hose that was inoperable, fixing a shower curtain, and a toilet valve.

Then the problems started:

1.  I get a text confirmation from the business, saying that they will be there June 29 and July 2 (apparently they don't work weekends).  When asked about this change over the weekend I had showings, they said that there was a roof from another job that needed to be done due to rain the previous day.  They gave me two guys to make up for the inconvenience.

2.  The guys they sent did some very subpar work, or did not do the job asked.  They patched a wall that was awful with no paint, the did not fix my closet door track, and said that they had to order 2 window screens.

3.  Fast forward to July 2 when they were supposed to come at 0800 hours.  No one came.  I had to call their receptionist, Heidi about getting a guy out there because, apparently, he quit.  She she'd get someone out ASAP, which was 2pm.

4.  The guy came and worked on the waterproofing of the deck without knocking and left.  He did not fix the screen that was too small (space for bugs to get in) in the kitchen and did not install the other one upstairs.

5.  I complained to the owner Doug Chew, who could care less about the problems.  When I asked how much this subpar work would cost me, he said, "We're going to be close to $1000."  He also said that he would send an experienced guy to fix the wall patch with some paint, and install the screen.  The closet, wall in closet, and screens are to be no charge.
Sounds like he'll make it right, right?  Wrong...

6.  July 9 - Their experienced guy came over twice and did the clean up work except for the screens.  HE COULD NOT MAKE THEM FIT!  He told me that they would be on order and that I'd hear back from the receptionist, Heidi, about the screens.

7.  July 26 -  I get an invoice for $1503.23 for the uncompleted job, after not hearing anything from them.  It's like their employees don't talk. When I send an email and complain, they respond that it's an automated response from Quickbooks and does not necessarily reflect that actual price.  I call BS.  Why do continuously have to follow up with these people and their nonsense?  When I complain to Berkshire Hathaway, my realtor complains to get them off of the preferred list.  Doug says an email or call to them would suffice.  Because it has worked gloriously so far?...  He says that Heidi is making this a priority (and no, he did not come the next day).

8.  Miraculously, the screen company they ordered it from lost their screen order.  Must be the screen company right?...  I am in utter disbelief.  The owner comes over July 30 (remember priority?) and measures them himself, because that's what it takes to get it right at this company.

9.  August 10 - Heidi emails me and says that Doug will be dropping off the screens this afternoon and sends me an invoice for $1253.23.  Sounds really close to that $1000 mark, right?  To Doug it does (more about that later).  Doug does exactly that.  He leaves the screens in front of my door without knocking or ringing the doorbell while I was home.  They are bent and flimsy, but he says later that this is normal.  I contracted him to install it, but you know....

10.  When I contact Doug and confront him as a dishonest business owner after some frustrating back and forth, he sends me a very unprofessional email which is representative of his unprofessionalism.  When asked for an itemized, specific breakdown of materials and labor several times, I am ignored.  Sounds like I got nothing that was promised as free.

Apparently Doug thinks that there is something wrong with my thinking to imagine that I hold his quote of close to $1000.00 as what I am paying. I believe this guy took me for a ride and took more money than he should have.  I also have emails of this invoices and various correspondence.  The invoice is not itemized, and only contains general comments that look to have been added to appease.  The original had just labor and materials with the price with no specifics.  It is the same in the updated one.  There's no way what they did should have cost $1500+.  Utterly ridiculous.
