I have a 3 year lease on my Explorer so I don't have to deal with problems like replacing tires.  This is the fifth Explorer that I've done a 3 year lease (with a maximum of 13,500 miles per year which I don't come anywhere near but I don't want to take a chance on going over miles so I pay extra on the lease for 13,500 miles instead of 12,000 miles).  Again, I do the 3 year lease so any repairs are under warranty and the vehicle is turned in before I have to deal with things like the cost of replacing tires.

I didn't receive a notice from Ford or from Hankook that there may be a problem with the tire tread.  In fact, the Ford dealership near my house had not even heard of the special service message that Hankook had released regarding the replacement of the tires!!!

I told the service department that the person on the Ford chat line gave me the information.  I'm now waiting for the dealership to figure out how they are going to get the full price of the tires from Hankook when I'm going to get a reduced price and what that price is going to be.

I am now going to have to pay for new tires, installation, balancing, and alignment.  Hankook will give me a reduced price for the tires.  What about installation, balancing, and alignment?  I know that I've driven on these tires for 2 years and some people are going to say that I should pay for the 2 years of use BUT this is why I lease the Explorer.

The Explorer would be turned in before the tires needed to be replaced so I would not have to spend money on them AT ALL!  Thanks to the Hankook tires, I'm going to have to spend several hundred dollars on new tires.
