My sister's puppy is 7 lbs. She was told the parents of her dog are 1.5 lbs and 2 lbs. This breeder PAULA ORREGO of HAPPYCHIS CHIHUAHUAS IN WASHINGTON is a liar and a crook. I helped my sister pay 2000 for a tiny TEACUP CHIHUAHUA and we could have bought a 7 lb Chihuahua for 500.00

Paula Orrego of HAPPY CHIS does not answer my phone calls and does not answer my emails. On her website she says she breeds 2 lb females. She says her males are 1 lbs. What a laugh. Do not be stupid like we were or you will get a 7 lb Chihuahua too.

I went to the site. Looked around a little. First thing you see? The word teacup. That means be VERY wary if you still choose to initiate contact. If people do enough research before looking for a breeder, they should get to that point :-). If I bought a champion dog, there would be no chance it wasn't by the time my money was in their hand but that's a different thing than size. If I wanted a specific size range (like my yorkie) I take steps on my own to ensure the best likelihood. First and foremost, I don't tend to buy 8 week old pups OR from a teacup, pocket, micro, whatever breeder. It DOES say pups are 2 3 pounds full grown on the about us page. Did you get a purchase contract? Does it say anything about adult size? Maybe no guarantees? There are a few people out there that guarantee size, but your dog can't have even an ounce of extra fat. Is some of the 7 pounds spoiling'? They also are extremely high dollar. Meet Mom's and Dad's? The group pic? They don't look one and two pounds to me. Not big by any means, but not THAT tiny (maybe around 4 pounds which is very small and mistaken for a puppy quite often). Plus, most breeders's that care even a little would NEVER breed a female that tiny, it is unlikely they would survive not to mention not good for the pups since mom wouldn't have much to give. There used to be a breeder' in my town that bred poodles. Parents were tiny, around 4 pounds maybe a little less on the male. This was a big selling point. I never met a dog they produced that didn't end up being a miniature .. Does CKC mean Continental? LOL. Did you try to see if she was suspended from AKC? She does post a little about health issues on the site. It is possible that a lot of her pups end up being extremely tiny and your sister's just happened to get a little larger. No one can guarantee adult size on a young pup, it's just an estimate. I can't find any other complaints with a quick search. I'm truly glad you love you pup anyways. Some of these size complaints (the attitude of the buyer) make me sick to my stomach.

So, how much of it is in writing (I didn't download the paperwork)? Like, we know her site says 2-3 pounds right. Were you guaranteed in writing? You have the page at a minimum. If they are outright lying, that could be theft by deception. It could also be false advertising. Stuff like that. You would also have to know whether or not there is any extra weight on the dog and how much. Like would the dog actually weigh in around 3 or 4 pounds if it was in perfect shape for it's body type? That happens more often than people think. Any extra body weight is not the seller's fault ;-). Good luck to you. *just my opinions*

Of course we love our dog and I am now sure that is exactly what the breeder counted on.
Dog Sellers commit fraud when they represent a dog to be what it is not.
Would you buy a champion dog and then not be upset or feel scammed when you got the dog and you find out it is not a champion? That is fraud.

It is fraud when you are guaranteed that a puppy from 1 and 3 lb parents will be 1 or 2 lbs grown, and the puppy goes to 7 lb adult. No ifs ands or buts!
At no time were we told of the possibility of the puppy going larger then 3 lbs.
If were were given that kind of information then it would be a bit different.
We asked about the parents and relatives of course. We were told all are 1 to 3 pounds so no chance the puppy could go larger.

We were deliberately LIED to.
The breeder does not answer my sister's phone calls nor her emails, That says quite a bit.

An indication

First, the parents aren't really the best indicator. Second, chihuahua's do tend to get a bit 'spoiled' shall we say and end up a bit overweight. Scales make a difference too. Whether or not a breeder sells/labels teacup, micro, pocket whatever without explanations can be an indicator of their ethics. Why? THERE IS NO SUCH THING! Let's not even get into all the additional health problems and care a dog that size has. Does your breeder inform you of that as well as the fact that teacup dogs don't actually exsist? Do your homework. DO NOT buy a puppy based on it's adult size. It's not fair to the pup. A 5 pound difference or so really shouldn't ever factor into whether or not you are happy with your pet. The extra years should be priceless. By now, your pet should be worth far more than dollars to you regardless of it's size.
