Harbor Fright Slipping in charges, after a customer has made the purchase and lead to believe he has 'Free shipping,' just before the end is Deceptive. Camarillo, California

Up to this point, I have been pleased with the product and service. But that was disrupted when I went to order a Third (Note I'm a returning customer) Workbench (Item # 93454) 60" Hardwood Workbench with 4 Drawers.

It was listed for $199.99 / Sale $159.99 and with the coupon (28240471) $129.99.  They stated the TOTAL CHARGES were $139.00, when I went to checkout.  I have been charged no shipping on the Previous two I ordered and at the top of the ad you show 'FREE SHIPPING on Orders over $99. (and yes I see the *Exclusions Apply, which is not explained anywhere!).  My point is --- Harbor Freight added a 'Heavy Weight Charge' of $89 to the Free Shipping, at the end of the Check out.  No
where in the Ad, the Coupon or the site is this mentioned, which is a 'Lead on' and considered 'Deceptive Advertising!'  Even with the coupon, one is still paying approx. $230 for the workbench, by the time they added the HWC.

It is a well made Workbench or I would have not come back three times to get one. But that is besides the point.   Slipping in charges, after the customer has made the decision and lead to believe he has 'Free shipping,' on the item, just before the end is Deceptive and causes distrust to the company.  This could all have been avoided if a statement in the ad that 'Heavy Charges will apply to shipping, because of the weight, but then you've got an overpriced Item!  I would suggest the Sales department find a better way of balancing out the cost and make the customer aware of ALL the charges, before they checkout!  I've made a complaint the Harbor Freight, but have not had a reply!

I went to Harbor Freight's site and it clearly states "exclusions apply" and lists the shipping weight as 115 pounds and the additional freight charge at $89.95.

Might want to re-read that...it doesn't look like any "deceptive advertising" to me.

Overweight items

I don't know which bench you ordered but the one I looked at on their web site clearly stated that it was overweight and additional cost would apply, it even says how much.

In addition, on the front page if you click on 'exclusions apply' it talks about additional charges for overweight items.

It looks like it's all there and you just missed it.
