I was a Hardee's customer for over 20 years until the dramatic increase of prices between June 2003 and June 2004 at the Roswell Rd. Store in Atlanta. Sausage biscuits were $.99 at Hardee's, which was the same price as their competitor McDonalds. In June of 2003, I went through the drive-thru at Hardees's like I would do every morning and the price had jumped from $.99 to $1.39. A 40% increase overnight which is an extremely large increase for the food industry. I wrote 4 letters to the corporate office and called the corporate office. I also filled out complaints at the store location. I eventually got a call from the store manager who helped me none. He had no explanation for the increase and basically just apologized for the increase.

Two weeks later I decided to return to the location (my mistake) and noticed that the prices were still the same but now you could get 2 sausage biscuits for $2.69, a very slight discount from $1.39 a piece. I ordered 2 and noticed that it rang up $2.78 plus tax which was no discount at all. They were still charging $1.39 a piece even though they were advertising 2 for $2.69. I made the manager aware of the discrepancy but there is no telling how many customers did not even notice and paid the extra amount.

I did not go back again until June of 2004 and the price has jumped to $1.49 a piece, so basically Hardee's has increased their price 50% in 1 year. McDonalds is still charging $.99 for their sausage biscuit! Also, there are other Hardee's that I've been too just outside Atlanta (but in Georgia)that are still charging $.99 so I feel ripped off that I have to pay 50% more for the exact same biscuit.
