May Trucking Company Refusal of putting "Promises" in Writing from their Recruiting Department (Just emails, nothing else) Salem, Oregon
After several weeks of trying to get a hold of a Recruiter for May Trucking, we FINALLY were able to speak today! After being accepted for a Position, they go over on the phone with You, your application! They write down on your file with them EVERYTHING you tell them concerning your background, so THEY have it in WRITING!
At the end of the Interview, as with several other companies I've done Business with! They ALWAYS send you an EMAIL with everything they just Offered you, on the phone! So you can BOTH Review it. Also, so that you and they, don't forget everything that was discussed! So there's NO CONFUSION or BS, Later on "down the road"!
For BOTH Parties concerned! SO I ASKED FOR AN EMAIL! ..... ( Frankly! I've spoken to MANY Different Judges, Lawyers, other Recruiters and even Law Enforcement, (I'm "related" too!) Plus, I have over 25 years EXPERIENCE IN BUSINESS, not to mention a Master's Degree in Business !
YOU ALWAYS, GET EVERYTHING "DISCUSSED" OR "PROMISED" IN WRITING!! AT THE VERY LEAST (An Email, Because ONCE PRINTED OFF, THEY ARE ADMISSABLE IN COURT, THESE DAYS) Everybody in Business knows that, it's Business 101 !
It's Common Practice AND KEEPS HONEST PEOPLE HONEST. Well, I was speaking with their LEAD Recruiter with these "Boneheads" and get THIS!! MAY TRUCKING COMPANY "REFUSES" TO PUT ANYTHING IN WRITING (EVEN JUST AN EMAIL) CONFIRMING WHAT THEY OFFER PEOPLE, EITHER IN PERSON OR OVER THE PHONE!!! NO JOKE!
SHE ACTUALLY "REFUSED" ,TO SEND ME AN EMAIL, CLAIMING THE COMPANY'S LEGAL DEPARTMENT "HAS NOT APPROVED ANYTHING FOR RECRUITERS TO PUT IN WRITING TO OFFER!" I'm thinking to myself, then HOW do your Recruiters Offer ANYBODY, ANYTHING! In the 1st Place? ( But I never said that thought!
Maybe I should have! But I digress!) ANYWAY, SO I JUST ASKED FOR A SIMPLE EMAIL, JUST SO I'D "REMEMBER" AND COULD "REVIEW" EVERYTHING! BUT ALSO, SO SHE COULD, "REMEMBER" THE 20 OR SO ITEMS "SHE CLAIMED", MAY TRUCKING COMPANY WOULD OFFER ME, ON THE PHONE TODAY NOV 15, 2019. SHE ACTUALLY REFUSED TO DO IT!!
AMAZINGLY POOR BUSINESS SKILLS AND DEMEANOR!! The ONLY Thing she would send, was some Brochure with ONLY what it "ALREADY SAYS" on their Website! But would NOT SEND ANYTHING CONCERNING MY OFFER, WHICH, I HAD JUST BEEN OFFERED ON THE PHONE FROM HER!!
So STAY CLEAR OF MAY TRUCKING COMPANY EVERYONE, THEY REFUSE TO PUT EVEN A "BASIC" OFFER, IN WRITING TO PEOPLE! THAT CAN MEAN "ONLY 1 THING"! THAT, THEY, (MAY TRUCKING) WILL "PROMISE" PEOPLE "THE MOON" (ON THE PHONE) AND TO THOSE WHO ARE EITHER NIEVE OR "SUCKERS" AND BELIEVE THEM!
MAY TRUCKING WILL "SCREW" AND LIE TO, ANY CHANCE THEY GET!! NOT DELIEVERING ON ANY OF THOSE PROMISES THEY "PROMISED" THE PERSON! BECAUSE IF, THEY ARE NOT WILLING TO COMMIT, TO WHAT THEY "CLAIM" IN JOB OFFERS TO PEOPLE, TO PUT EVERYTHING IN A SIMPLE EMAIL (NOT ASKING FOR ANY CONTRACT OR ANYTHING HERE, JUST A simple EMAIL) SO "BOTH" PARTIES (THE DRIVER AND MAY TRUCKING COMPANY) CAN "REMEMBER" (AT THE VERY LEAST!)
WHAT MAY TRUCKING COMPANY RECRUITERS, TELL SOMEONE, ABOUT THEIR SUPPOSED "JOB OFFER"! THEN, THEY ARE NOT A TRUSTWORTHY COMPANY! JUST LIKE SO MANY OTHER COMPANIES IN THE TRUCKING AND TRANSPORTATION INDUSTRY TODAY, HERE IN THE STATES! AND THEN, "THEY" WONDER WHY, THEY CAN NOT GET PEOPLE WITH ANY WORTHWHILE EXPERIENCE IN THIS BUSINESS?
BUT WITH COMPANIES "PULLING" THIS KIND OF GARBAGE, IS IT ANY WONDER??? I DID NOTHING BUT "APPLY" TO THESE KNUCKLEHEADS AND THEY TRIED TO "SCREW ME" FROM THE WORD GO!!! NOT TO MENTION; THESE PEOPLE WERE EXTREMELY HARD TO "NAIL DOWN" AND TALK TO IN THE 1ST PLACE!
LET ALONE, GETTING ANY KIND OF OFFER OUT OF THEM! THEIR SLICKER, THAN "CRAP THROUGH A GOOSE", AS FAR AS THAT GOES! CLAIMING "THEIR BUSY" AND SO FORTH! YEAH RIGHT, THEY JUST DON'T WANT TO BE HELD "ACCOUNTABLE" FOR ANYTHING!!
ALL I CAN SAY, IS STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE "BONEHEADS", DON'T APPLY, OR HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THEM!! MAY TRUCKING WANTS YOU (THE APPLICANT/DRIVER) TO GIVE THEM, EVERYTHING IN WRITING! BUT THEY REFUSE TO GIVE YOU, (THE APPLICANT/DRIVER) ANYTHING IN WRITING BACK!!
NOT COOL MAY TRUCKING, NOT COOL AT ALL!!!! Keep doing "Business" this way AND Y'all WILL GO OUT OF BUSINESS EVENTUALLY HERE, JUST LIKE SO MANY Others have already, these days, in The Great Depression II with 173 Million People NOT WORKING, DUE TO NO "LIVABLE WAGE" JOBS, IN THE U.S. TODAY! All I can say; Avoid May Trucking like the plague!! If they won't put a simple "Job Offer" in an email to someone, "claiming" their "Legal Department" will NOT "Allow" them too! Then YOU KNOW, there's a "Big Problem" with this company! So the best I can stay, "steer clear", FAR AWAY from these knuckleheads!
They will "screw you" in a Heartbeat!!! I'VE BEEN IN THIS "BUSINESS" FOR ALMOST 10 YEARS (off/On) AND I ALMOST GOT "SCREWED" BY THEM! SO I FEEL SORRY FOR ANY "NEWBIE" OR "ROOKIE" IN THIS BUSINESS, WHO DOESN'T "KNOW BETTER" AND BELIEVE'S WHAT THESE PEOPLE AT MAY TRUCKING PROMISE THEM!
I will NEVER do BUSINESS with them AGAIN!!!

Well, if (as you claim) U don't work for them! Then U obviously do not know what U are talking about! Go to ............ usdebtclock.org...... See 2 #'s Current US Labor Force and Current US Population! Subtract "Current Labor Force from "Current US Population" It equals "around roughly" 172 Million People NOT WORKING! aka. Unemployed!
That's around 52% of the US Population or about 26 out of 50 States worth of US Citizens NOT WORKING !!! U want to know "why my company is idle?" That's why! It does NOT MATTER "How smart U are? Or How many Degrees U have, or how much Experience U Have!
In the Great Depression II (Yes, we have a Higher Unemployment Rate, Than the 1st Great Depression! 40% during the 1st. Great Depression with 100 million in the US. Today, it's roughly 52% with 330 million in the US! So No matter how U "slice it", there's MORE, MUCH MORE, People NOT Working Today, then the 1st Great Depression!
No matter what "Smoke" the Media or the "Political Types" want to try and Blow up people's 6. Sorry to say!) Business Contracts have virtually "Dried Up" and there's already been MULTIPLE Trucking Companies go out of Business! Some even stranded hundreds of Drivers out on the road!
So keeping my Company "Idle" keeps me from going out of Business, because of this current US Economy and the extremely "Low" Rates on Frieght! So U admit, U don't know what your talking about saying "your the general public" with a "difference in opinion! That's fine!
Opinions are like "A-Holes" EVERYONE Has 1. So Obviously; U should keep your nose in your own Business, when U've already admitted, U don't know what your talking about! Ever heard of saving space texting with letters? U for the word; "You" or CAPS 4 emphisis? Have U EVER Texted in your life? If U don't want a Salary that's Fine! I'd pay "U" what the rest of the poor bastards get paid! "U" then can stay "Poor" all your life then! That's fine by me! That's "Ur" Choice!

I never understand why people feel they must make themselves sound more important. As very often it has the opposite effect of destroying what ever creditiblity they may have.
The fact is that this is a PUBLIC web site and as such the PUBLIC can respond, and they may not always agree with you. If you spent any time on this site you would see that is also SOP, anyone posting are just members of the public. So sorry to burst your bubble but no one that posted works for this company.
Seriously though..here you are a someone who has a Masters of Business Degree, 25 years of total business experience, where you own a Trucking company and your last contract was worth half a million bucks. Yet, you have to spend weeks tracking down a recruiter at a company in the attempt to find a job.
It doesn't take a business major to figure out that one plus one isn't equalling two here.
Then, they get to join the "Ranks" of the other 172 or 173 Million People in this country today who are Not Employed or working anymore
- Apparently just like the Contractors and Drivers who used to work for you.
By the way as a Businessman you must be well aware of the only people that make any money in a Class Action Lawsuit is the attornies. I read some of the suits you talked about, and the ones that actually weren't thrown out by the judge, ended up with any of the members getting at most around $1000. But most were much less.

What college graduate writes "U" instead of "you"? What college graduate writes in all CAPS for a little while and then lower case other times? No, you NEVER pay an owner operator a "salary" because he is NOT an employee!
We are all very familiar with how immature people write reports here and because they just can't stand to be corrected, they embellish their status in life and of course use that immature "you must work for them" nonsense because you just can't come up with any intelligent rebuttal.
Keep on writing! It's hilarious and guess what Mr. Big Businessman...I don't work for them either!

You keep talking about how they wouldn't put an offer letter in writing to you via e-mail because their legal department said they can't? Well, then legally you were never offered a job. It's not a matter of not promising you anything in compensation. They aren't promising you a job. All of the back and forth you spent going over everything regarding your compensation was a waste of time since you were offered nothing in writing.
Now, if you really have an advanced business degree, as you said, then you don't need to be driving a truck; that's just a waste of education. You shouldn't have trouble earning a livable wage given there are more available jobs out there than there are people who are unemployed.

1st, I Own a Trucking Company! It's "Idle" due to No, available Business Level Contracts. My last 1 was worth a half a million bucks, US! So, you obviously do not know what U are talking about! When a Company makes you a verbal offer, you get it IN WRITING!
Yes, they made me an offer! I said that in the beginning of my report, had you bothered to read the whole thing! If U think in any, way, shape or form, that this is "Good Business Practices" then your either extremely ignorant OR an employee or management at May Trucking Company!
You also must Not keep up with the "Trades" or News in this Business! Because if you did, you would know, Celedon just recently lost $42 Million dollars for "pulling similar type" of Business Practices. Same with Roadrunner and Swift/Knight !
Other smaller companies trying to "Pull" these "Type" and Many other kinds of "Games" with Employees, Customers, and or Potential Employees, where nobody is "able to hold their feet to the fire" of just general and honest straightforward Business Practices, eventually go OUT OF Business Too!
Then, they get to join the "Ranks" of the other 172 or 173 Million People in this country today who are Not Employed or working anymore! So be my guest, join their "Ranks" there Bubba! Feel free! Ask the people at Transam, that are currently going through that Multi-Million Dollar Class Action Lawsuit!
There's 7,000 Plaintiffs who joined that 1 Buddy!!(All People THEY Screwed! I know, I'm 1 of them!) Transam is so scared, their going to loose Millions an subsequently be put Out of Business! They are selling off their equipment for a FRACTION of what it's worth!!!
So based on Ur response! You are either an Employee of May Trucking Company or a Troll. Either way, you should REALLY do your "Homework" and Research a Topic, before you say something online about something you know nothing or very little about !
Trucking is ONLY 1 of my Business's! I deal Straight Up! I've ALWAYS paid my Drivers and Contractors a Salary, based off of the Company's Percentage! So next time you open mouth, you don't need Foot Powder with it! A little Research goes a long way their Bubba ! Take care, Troll.
