We own two Harman Coal Stoves: a TLC-2000 and SF-250. We live in a very cold climate, and burn the stoves 24/7/365. In the past year I have burned over 15 tons of coal heating our home.

I would highly recommend any prospective buyers NOT buy a Harman Stove for the following reasons: poor design, poor service, and overpriced products.

The stoves are poorly designed in consideration of door handles that cannot sustain daily use, and poorly sealing primary and secondary damper controls on the TLC-2000. And, in the case of both stoves, the ash pans do not adequately catch ash falling from the grates - creating a mess with cleaning everyday. The SF-250, specifically, has internal ventilation problem that cause excessive smoke build-up in the firebox when starting (this is not a chimney issue).

The service and support from Harman Stoves is awful. The company does not readily provide a support number, instead forcing the consumer to call the retailer where the stove was purchased. The retailer in most cases does not have the knowledge/experience base to answer stove specific technical questions.

Finally, Harman Stoves overprice their products. In consideration of the problems listed above, Harman is not entitled to charge the premium price for their stoves that they do. Beyond that, and the reason for for this RipOff-Report submission are the prices Harman Stove charges for replacement parts and shipping. The part prices were outrageous - however, in my case today, Harman has decided that it will charge me over $110 for domestic shipping and handling on 3 parts that weigh less than 2lbs, and will fit in a 14"x12"x12" box.

If you are shopping for either a coal or wood stove, you have many great manufacturers out there to choose from (including restored antique stoves).

I would recommend you NOT choose a Harman Stove.

Harman stove customer service is beyond bad

I too am a victim of Harman stoves horrific customer service.
Last year I bought a TL2.6, their mid sized wood burner.

There are 5 gaskets in this stove, and I wanted to get factory original replacements to have on hand.
My "dealer" is a screw up operation, and they still don't hve them after 6 weeks.  I contacked Harman directly, and they basically told me that I must get them off of my dealer that is both incompetant, and a 100 mile round trip to go visit.  In essense they told me to go to hell.

Last week after one of the very first burns that I had done in this stove I notice that there was a fire brink that was out of place. I have written them twice on thier help desk softare that keeps track of corespeondence.   It's going on 10 days and I have heard nothing.

Think carefully before doing business with a company like this.
