I bought a Jeep 4x4 from these clowns in August and quickly noticed a burning smell and a rumbling noise. I returned back to them and spoke directly to the manager Frank. My wife and I told him that the car was making a strange noise and a sweet burning smell. Frank had one of his mechanic's take a look at the jeep. About 20 minutes later the guy said there was nothing wrong with the jeep. Said the smell was oil they spill was burning off. The sound was the 4x4. Now us never owning 4x4's believed them. Two weeks has gone by and the smell was getting stronger and still they kept reassuring us that it was nothing. Then as we we approaching home one day a good poof of white smoke came from the tailpipe. We ran inside and called them back. We spoke to Frank again who then sent out two of his men. The guys came out and took the jeep. They said they were going to the shop to take a look at the jeep. 2 hours later they returned still stating there is nothing wrong and left. I got into my jeep and noticed my half full gas tank was now close to empty. My wife reassured me by saying perhaps they test drove it to be sure. We took it back again and one of the mechanics stated it was a cracked oil cover gasket and he will charge us $80 to fix it since we are customers of the dealer. He normally charges $130. We also pointed out to him that our back lights didn't work. A cop notified me when I was driving in the rain. He said he will fix that for free and never did.

It is now October and the jeep still smells bad and now the perform service light has come on. We took it to Speedy Lube in Manchester where 3 of the guys immediately state we have a cracked head gasket. MY family and I have moved at least an hour away now and were lucky enough to live next to two mechanics. They looked over the jeep and said the 4x4 needs a new rod, the head gasket was about blown (has a good crack in it), the jeep couldn't have passed state inspection in this condition especially with the back lights now functioning properly. He asked me where I had it inspected at. I told him Harris did it all. My neighbor told me he's gonna report them for passing a car that is not passable. He also said he will fix everything he finds wrong and all we need to pay for is the parts and a 6 pack.

I wouldn't even recommend harris certified auto to my worst enemy.

This is in response to a claim made by the people that purchased a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee from Harris Certified. First off we treated you and your family with nothing but respect and took the time to get you financed when no one else would even talk with you about financing a vehicle.  So grow up and stop calling hard working people names.

In response to quickly returned, it was returned a couple of days later for a clunking noise not any type of smell. This smell complaint did not come until a couple of weeks after they claimed a big puff of white smoke came from the vehicle.  Our service technicians did not find anything making a clunking noise at that point.

The Customer had called to let us know that she was driving the vehicle and a puff of white smoke came out of the tail pipe. She was advised not to drive the vehicle and that she should make arrangements to get the vehicle back to us. We were informed that they could not afford a tow. We went out of our way and stopped what we were doing and sent out a service technician to inspect and also pick up the vehicle. The vehicle was started and there was no indication of white smoke. The vehicle was brought back to the dealership for evaluation and there was still no white smoke or any indication of a cracked head gasket. We put many miles on this vehicle in an attempt to see the white smoke. We never saw any white smoke nor did the check engine light come on. Based upon what she has stated in this complaint the check engine light did not come on until October.  When she called to let us know of the alleged cracked head, she was told that she could bring it to us so that we could have a look at it. We never heard from them until now when we find this unflattering letter about us on line.

We heard from the customers for the first time mid October for the first time since this complaint of white smoke a couple of weeks after they purchased the vehicle, so we were under the impression that any issue they were having has stopped.

Anyone that has used a light bulb know that they blow out from time to time. When this vehicle left our shop it was New Hampshire state safety inspected and all of the lights worked. In a good will act on our part they were told that we would fix it for them. They had an appointment to come in and never showed up for the appointment. We still have the necessary parts here to do the job.

When this vehicle was purchased she was offered an extended warranty that would have covered this alleged head gasket issue, unfortunately our help was refused and they purchased this vehicle AS-IS. What makes me a little curious is how many miles have been put on this vehicle since it was purchased and when this mechanic looked at it to declare he would not have passed this vehicle.

We stand behind our technicians diagnosis and were willing to work with her on fixing her vehicle but since we have found this letter we have decided to not work with them and the next time they hear from us might be from an attorney for defamation of character.

We are sorry to hear that you would not refer your worst enemy to us. What does not surprise us now is that you have enemies.

     Sincerely

Team Harris Certified
