My husband and nephew both attend training at the Deptford branch of Harrison Career Institute and they are also both experiencing problems regarding their loans and other questions.

My husband is a disabled veteran and is entitled to monthly VA education benefits for his schooling. He started on June 26th 2006 and almost 3 months later, has not received any payments. All that is holding this process up is a simple paper that is to be sent from his school. The lady in charge of that has blantantly lied to his face and said it was sent a long time ago. We found out recently from the financial aid director in the corporate office that it was to be finally sent on Monday Sept 11th. Why did this paper NOT get sent long before?? And why must these people lie to their students ??

My nephew has received a letter saying that there is money to be disbursed. When I called the loan company and the federal aid hotline they explained it to us and said that the money is his money but the school can disburse it whenever and however they want to.

Lastly and perhaps most importantly, the fact that the school course total cost is approx 10,000-11,500 (depending on which of the 2 figures you want to go buy).. Each of them were told to take out 2 stafford loans each for 6625.00 totaling 13250.00. In addition to that they both received a Pell grant for 4,000.00. Bringing the total of cost of loans to: 17250.00. So my question is if the total of the training including books and fees etc comes to 11000.00 then what happened to the remaining 6250.00 ??? The numbers just don't add up. It makes no sense at all.

No one will talk to us to answer any questions. They just simply ignore us. I can understand them ignoring me since i dont attend the school, but they refuse to talk to my husband , my nephew (who happens to be 16 years old ) or his mother.

We need answers to the things that just dont make any sense here. We need to talk to others that have similar problems. Any reporters, news teams, lawyers etc that can give us advice. Thank you.
