Here is something to add to the Harry Ritchie Rip Off Report. Over the past 14 years, we have spent THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of dollars at the North Bend, OR store. We have paid cash as well as paid extremely high interests rates to use their in-store charge account.

I do not know what has happened to this company but I will NEVER do business with them again. Yesterday, our son purchased a wedding set PLUS a smaller diamond ring (cost $699.98 for the set and $150 for the smaller ring) to be given as a mother's day gift to his wife. His wife expressed wishes to see the wedding set before he purchased it and the smaller ring was EXTREMELY overpriced and not of good quality.

He paid cash for the smaller ring, put the set on lay away and traded his wedding ring for a credit of $298. I went with him to rectify the situation today, suggesting that he retrieve his wedding ring, cancel the purchase of the set and return and get his money back for the smaller ring. Well guess what??? Even thought just yesterday, he paid $150.00 cash for the smaller ring, today, he could not get his money back.

The manager of the store told him they did not carry money in their till and the refund would have to come from corporate office which could take up to two weeks. Amazing!!! It is not as if they have to wait for a check of his to clear this was CASH money he paid them just yesterday and now he has to wait up to two week to get HIS money back??? Are they going to pay him the same high interest they charge after all, they ARE using his money.

As I stated, I will NEVER do business with them again and if people are smart, they will not enter their stores. Of couse when I called the store manager on this, she plopped a plastic sign down in front of me and said "store policy". I interept that to mean that store policy is to keep your cash without paying interest on it! Oh by the way, we went to Wal Mart and purchased twice the ring for $60.00 instead of $150.00 and you should see the comparison in quality. unbelievable!!!

#2Consumer Suggestion

Sun, December 19, 2004

I believe in being fair. So I must say that I had an issue with Harry Ritchie Jewelers when they opened a store in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

I was in no way satisfied with the way the local manager had chosin to handle my issue.

I contacted the Harry Ritchie headquarters in Eugene,Or. I must say I did not expect such personal attention and rapid resolve to the issue at hand. This includes the vice president meeting me personally at the Harry Ritchie store of my choice to resolve the situation.

From the Lady that answered the phone at their headquarters to an immediate phone call from the boss and a very workable solution offered, to the personal attention in a store of my choosing. This is the BEST customer service I have ever recieved.

My suggestion would be that if you have a problem with a local store and are unsatisfied with the local manager....Call the headquarters!

They were most excellent to work with.

Satisfied customer.
