Just like another person, whose report I just read, I too was a victim of this Harvard Professional Group rip-off. I fell victim to this scam because I replied to an ad in the Star-Ledger, which i've noticed appears every single Sunday.

Harvard Professional group is located in the Sheraton Mahwah. They have a beautiful office and employ a bunch of slick-talking recruiters that have no real prospects and offer no real service.

In my situation, I was unemployed for several months, and after desperately searching for employment, I finally caved in and called Harvard. They told me that they knew of several jobs that I would be perfect for. They also told me that they work with several major companies in New Jersey, and they could get me into the door without any hesitation. (Rick Pastre, VP of Client Services). After I cut a check for around $3,000 to "hire them to help me find a great career developing job," they did absolutely nothing.

Here we are almost a half a year later, and Harvard has done nothing for me. I found employment on my about a month and a half after paying them. I drove over a half hour away to their offices on about nine occasions to listen to B.S., and take nonsense personality tests. What a waste of time and money! They never set me up on any appointments, and in fact, even when I located REAL JOBS that were vacant, they always gave me excuses as to why it wasn't a good job for me.

Get this - Since finding my own job, I have contacted them to help me find a "better job." I asked them to use their talented recruiters to get me into the door of some of these companies that they work with. They have no contact... how do I know? Because, every time I mention a company (and i've mentioned about twenty different companies in several months) they tell me that they have no contacts at the specific company i'm looking for. And they keep trying to get me to come back to the office and sit with a recruiter to talk. No way. I'm going to use my time more wisely and call an attorney, to see if I can file suit against these phony con-artists! If you're serious about finding a job, DO NOT call these guys... BIG waste of money and time, especially at at time when you need your money the most.

Evan on the right track!!!!

Evan,
PLEASE file complaints with all the agencies!!!
And follow up with each process. This is critical.
Also I spoke with the county prosecuter he recommends filing with BOTH the state and county
(middlesex) divisions of consumer affairs. Ultimately the MEDIA will be our strongest asset.
TIME is critical in order to have as MANY complaints in the qeue as possible with as many agencies as possible! This is what gives us an advantage. with only a few complaints HPG is able to settle for small amounts and prevent their history of complaint from reaching the trigger point for each agency.
FIGHT ON!

To all that are in this same situation with Harvard Professional Group. Reading comments posted by many of you has prompted me to contact the Attorney General's Office regarding HPG. I haven't yet received a response, but i'm sure they will follow up if enough of us take simliar action.

I will file in small claims court if necessary. However, the true beauty of my situation is that I am now employed by a very powerful media organzation here in New Jersey. I'm going to suggest that someone look into the goings on, based on all of your letters on this site. I will keep everyone posted and good luck to you all in the meantime. We will get them! Don't give up!

You should all get together and go to the County Prosecutor's office. Together, your statements should be enough for them to get a warrant to seize HPG's records to see exactly what contacts they have and efforts they have made.
