I have been contacted twice by Mr. Jeff Woods of Haster Law in the last two months regarding a debt on a retail store credit card that I've never owned. He asked for me by name and then claimed he was representing a certain retailer and was trying to collect a debt. I realized immediately he had the wrong person because I've never had an account with the store he claimed to represent. He then asked if the last four digits of my SS# were XXXX. Without divulging my own SS# I told him that the # he gave me was not my # and that he has the wrong person. I then explained that there were at least 2 other people in the area with the same name that I was aware of. He apologized and said I would not hear from him or his law firm again. That was 1-2 months ago and I received a call again from the same law firm the other day. Not only did he call my home # but also my parents home #. Worried that someone may have stolen my identity I checked my credit report today and found out that I have no claims, collections or negative marks against me at all. Something is obviously fishy (or phishy) so be wary. Ask questions but don't give out any info. It seems they just buy up old accounts and then will try and stick them to anyone with the same name.
