I want the traveling public to know of the deplorable service my family experienced at the Kona International Airport at the hands of the Hawaiian Airlines ticketing  agents. Hawaiian Airlines is de facto  the only inter-island air carrier these days, so they have a monopoly on the business.
Despite pre-printing our boarding passes and despite showing up an hour before departure, we still missed our flight and in turn missed attending a very important meeting. The "topper" was the fact that 10 minutes before departure, they realized that several of us were still in the non-moving line ( several different Hawaiian departures were all herded into the same boarding line!), and proceeded to personally escort us to the gate. Great assistance, service and professionalism-- or so we thought.
It was like the Three Stooges- they were on walkie-talkies to the gate and the plane the whole time, BUT when we got to the boarding area, they told us that the plane just left!
No apologies, no assistance, no chain of command to complain to.
Total arrogance and condescension. The old "take-it-or-leave it" attitude. "If you want to get there, we're you're only method of doing so, and we couldn't care less about your troubles or concerns."

First off why are you complaining about the "ticketing" agents?  Exactly what "non-moving" line were you in?

If you pre-printed your boarding pass(on-line check in?) you can just go through security right to the gate, unless you had bags to check as well.  If you did have bags you may have showed up too late as they recommend 90 minutes before your flight for Inter-Island flights but you MUST be at the gate no later than 30 minutes before.

If you showed up at the gate at least 30 minutes before, and the line was truly "non-moving" the plane would have left empty.  Obviously this would not happen, which brings back exactly what line were you in.

Also, how did THEY realize that you were on the flight and needed to get to the gate?
