hawkhunter_internet_auction_services hawkhunter internet auction services, Deceptive selling practices, lists rusted out non-running junk as 'drives good' and restored Elkhorn, Wisconsin
This ebay seller listed a 1968 Jeepster Commando as follows:
As pictured, very nice 1968 Jeepster Commando from Florida, now in Wisconsin. I can't remember the last time I saw a Commando on the road. This jeep is four wheel drive with the dauntless 225 V6 engine with 3 speed manual transmission. Warn lock-out hubs. Glass is good, lights work, blinkers work, heat works. Excellent brakes. This appears to be an amateur restoration. The paint, although nice, is not the original color as evidenced by the dash. the paint has a couple of spots that need touch up. The wipers and gas gauge do not work. One of the side windows in the removeable top is plexiglass. The jeep drives good but smokes from the tailpipe more than it should. Tires are good. Newer exahust. Taligate works and top is removeable for summer fun. Frame seems solid. Doors and windows work as they should. NO RESERVE! HIGH BIDDER WINS! Please note, Autocheck report not available for vehicles manufactured prior to 1981 and vehicle mileage exempt due to age.
Look at the pics, ask some questions, place a bid.
Please Note! Buy-it-now price of $3895 ends when first bid is placed on a no reserve auction. All pics taken 11/2009. Titled as a 1968 JEEP and title is clear without any liens or issues.
Vehicle clearly has not been restored, only exterior paint. Has several burned valves; cannot be driven due to lack of power. Floorpans and bed floor completely rusted out.
Avoid this seller at all costs!!!

The buyer and his friend completely inspected the Jeep prior to purchase. He claimed to be an expert on jeeps. I would have gladly taken the jeep back. He never contacted me with any issues. He knew what he bought, but I think he must have thought he over-bid on the item.
