I received a call from Mike Conley of HBC from 678-269-7158 and gave me a case number. He said he was investigating fraud on one of my employees. I asked what the call was concerning and what HBC stood for. He told me that HBC was not an acronym and that HBC is the name of the company. I told him to be honest with me because I use to be a collection agent and even owned a collection agency. I told him to tell me the name of the company and be honest with me or I was not going to pass on the message. Furthermore, I told him I was going to do my own investigation and make my decision then.

I checked into it and there are many reports of fraud for this guy. His number registers to a 24 Hours Emergency Locksmith at 4010 Lawrenceville Hwy, Marietta, GA 30084-4622.

He made me so mad because I know the FDCPA like the back of my hand and dishonest scam artists like this that buy bottom-feeder debt make me so mad. So I called him back and Mike answered. I asked for his supervisor and he said he was the supervisor. Once again, I told him not to lie to me and that if he wasn't going to be honest I was not going to pass the message on. He then proceeded to tell me that I didn't want to do that because then I would be responsible for this man's account (my employee). I told Mike that I was this man's place of employment and that he does NOT have permission to call this person at their place of work anymore.

When you call someone's place of employment you must tell the person who asks you what the name of the company when they specifically ask for the name of the company. You are also suppose to give an 800 number for the debtor to call back, because a collection agency cannot make a debtor incur a cost to call you back because the debtor may have to pay for long distance calls. You cannot tell anyone, including the debtor that you are investigating fraud because it is not fraudulent to owe a legitimate debt. If you are truly being investigated for fraud you will be called by a county, state or federal investigator. Not some locksmith who bought some "old", pennies-on-the-dollar debt and say you are an investigator.

Trashy collection agencies who break the FDCPA and commit fraud by scamming consumers are the entire reason why I am no longer in the debt buying, selling or collecting game.

Shame on you Mike Conley, if that really is your name.

I am reporting this to every 800-notes, Who is calling me website out there. Im also reporting you to your local Better Business Bureau and Chamber of Commerce. Finally, I will be reporting you to the ACA, DBA, Debt Connection & the FTC. I hope you get fined majorly and that no respectable business associated with debt buying, selling or collecting will do business with you.

Mike, in case you dont know some of the acronyms I used in this report

FDCPA = Fair Debt Collection Practices Act
ACA = The Association of Credit and Collection Professionals
DBA = Debt Buyers Association International
FTC = Federal Trade Commission
