Complaint Review: Hotbooksale - Smart Savings Center

I placed an order for a book at $16.57 with free shipping. The charge came through on my Visa card as "HBS BOOKS 888-646-1662 - 561-989-7400" but the book was not delivered. An additional charge of $1 (I did not authorize)came through as SSC PRCSG 877-777-7824 - 561-989-7400. Additional charges of $1 and $29.95 were attempted twice by the same merchant, but my Visa bank caught these as fraudulent charges and cancelled my account. I had to open a new Visa account and spend hours contacting the numerous other merchants that I have my Visa account registered with for valid, on going charges.

I have since found that that HotBookSale and SmartSavingCenter are running a scam whereby they bait you with a very low price on a book, then sign you as a "subscriber" for monthly purchases.
