HCCUA is lean health insurance at best.  It will take people with pre-existing conditions but you must be enrolled for one year before they can be treated, except for office visits.  They only insure people under 65.   The prescription drug services are primarily generic but they push a manufacturer assistance plan. Everything was minimally OK until I tried to cancel.  The computer answers the phone, you select the cancel prompt then you go on hold listening to an endless loop of the same piano music waiting for that person to whom your call is really important until an hour elapses and you have an opportunity to leave a message for the person who never calls you back.  In the off chance that someone actually picks up during this eternity on hold, they will put you back on hold "just for a minute" while they "pull up" your policy but they never return.  They tell you that you must have a "cancelation conformation number" from a representative to cancel, so I guess that they think that if they wont talk to you and give you that number; you can't cancel. They must think that you can't just stop payment at the bank for fear of a law suit but; since they aren't licensed to sell insurance in California and the State Insurance Commissioner's office is eagerly anticipating meeting them;  I'm not going to loose too much sleep over that.
