HD Canada - HOT DEALS CANADA ripoff dishonest promised career scam Mississauga Ontario
June 25, 2003 i was sent a job offer complete with salary, start date, temporary visa paperwork, and the promise of a great career. I was to start my job early september after going to canada for a 2 week paid training. I even went so far as to have them reserve an extra ticket so i could have a guest accompany me for the two weeks while i was not in training.
Finally september came and i had not received anything as far as travel documents were concerned. I was told that due to the SARS outbreak in toronto that Immigration was not issuing TEMP VISAS. I was also sent another email telling me i could start the first week in OCT. Once october came i was told that with the power outage and the email virus's getting into the main servers that again i would have to wait.
I later was even sent an email exclaiming that the extra added costs from the VIRUS had created a defecit and that my training was now being pushed until January 2004. Apparently they had not budgeted well and the extra costs ate the money they had for new trainees.
MOst of the things they were telling me sounded reasonably legitimate. Im the daughter of a CD manufacterer so i have some business knowledge.
Anyhow now 7 months later i am still without a job and i am still dumbfounded by this scam. I cant believe people can be so calous and just mess with peoples lives like this. I was collecting unemployment and didnt seek employment elsewhere because i had paid them the $75 to basically hold my job. I want something done about this but i dont know where to start.
Class Action Suit sounds good to me.

I am a former canadian and I can tell you from experience that the only way you can get a work visa is from the government. Companies can issue a visa. there are fees to be paid, background checks, fingerprinting, etc etc...So next time you are offered a job in a foreign country beware...
I am sorry this happened to you...I have been ripped of many times by scams..kinda makes you wonder about the fabric of the human race huh?

HD Canada has been scamming several people on the Internet out of 75.00 and your information with the promise of employment only to just give several excuses on postponing the position and never hearing from them again. I also suspect identity fraud. If you would like to fight back, first put an alert with your credit agencies. Try also visiting these sites.

I hope this helps.

My Story is almost identical to the woman's from Pennsylvania.I was collecting unemployment (got laid off)Sent my $75 to this company for my work visa, only to be put off for months.I was not seeking another job becuase of the promise of this great job. In the end they never got back to me after several attempts by telephone, and e-mail.
something needs to be done about this company. They think it is ok to scam Americans out of their hard earned money. I would be interested in doing something about this company.
Sincerely,
