Complaint Review: HDI SimpleEscapes2

A charge of 96.00, by HDI*Simple Escapes2, dated March 29, 2004, has appeared on my Mastercard bill.

I called the 800 number that showed up on my Mastercard statement; Aliela, who answered, requested my address and name, and told me that, along with a catalogue purchase, I had requested some sort of 'travel & dining' membership which had a 30-day trial period.

I told her that was false, because I have never requested any kind of travel & dining membership for any length of time.

I then spoke to a supervisor named Damien. He told me that he could not find any record of my request or charge. He also said that he would see that the charge was reversed and that it should show up within 2 days. It seems very odd to me that a company has no record of a charge and more importantly, can not tell me what the charge was.

FYI, I called both my Mastercard company to dispute the charge and let them know of my discussion with Alieha and Damien. I also called the Federal Trade Commission (1-877-382-4357) to record a complaint. Please do so, too.

An internet search for HDI*Simple Escapes2 brought up information showing that there are other company name associations: MWI Simple Escapes, HDI Connections, MWI Essentials, MWI Homeworks, Improvements Catalogue, Member Works, DealPass.com....and the web searches show many others who have been scammed!
