My father had passed away and I wanted to check out the surgeon that operated on him.

I purchased a report from Healthgrades on the physician and, shame on me, I didn't read on through the fine print.  Towards the end of the dialogue there was a couple of sentences that said they were sending me a "complimentary" copy of their "Watchdog" service and if I didn't cancel it within 14 days they would automatically bill my credit card $9.95.

I had completely fogotten about this until my wife was going through our credit card bill for December and she asked me about a 9.95 dollar charge to Healthgrade.  I had even forgotten the name of the company.  She went back through our old records and sure enough starting just 14 days after I had purchased the report, they had started to charge our card and it continued until we caught it.

To my knowledge I never received their "Watchdog" report.  I'm sure they didn't want me to see anything because that might have ended their "free lunch".  I believe there is a name for this practice and I'm not relieving myself from some of the blame for not picking up on this immediately.  If I had noticed this I would have cancelled the whole thing because a practice like this gives this company ZERO credibility with me.  I recommend that anyone seeking this kind of service stay away from this company. It's obvious that your well being does not concern them in the least.  It's all about putting money in their pockets.
