Complaint Review: HRS USA

I purchased from Heilig Meyers (now bankrupt) a mattress, box springs and an expensive mattress cover to maintain the warranty since stains, etc. would void warranty. I purchased on the 12 months same as cash plan.

Following are my issues:

Late charge assessement $25.00 Payment due 09/17/01 and HRS USA received payment of $50.00 and posted to my statement payment on 09/20/01.

On my December statement the owed balance was $39.87 on my account balance, my wife wrote out a check in the amount thinking that the account was paid in full. On the check she recorded "paid in full". Payment due date was 12/17/01 and we did not receive the bill until after 12/03/01. I received a statement in January 2002 stating that I still owed $93.80 since the payment of 39.87 was not paid before 12/03/01 which was the end of promotional financing offer.

Finally, a warranty issue with my purchase has developed and I have had to purchase an egg crate foam to add to my expensive mattress, in order, for me and my wife to get a decent nights sleep. Is HRS USA just a collection agency for Heilig Meyers company or should I take up warranty issue with HRS USA, I dare you to try to pick up the phone and try to get through to the customer service department and talk to someone in person although they list a number for making contact.

The only way that I was able to speak to someone was by getting the telephone number from the local credit bureau. I plan on doing a lot of letter writing starting with HRS USA or as known by the credit bureau as Household Financing Services, call 1 800 365-3816 to reach them as they seem to have provided a telephone numb
