Hertz Rental Car Charged for 6 more days then I had the vehicle. No concern by Hertz to resolve. Irving TX
I had a rental vehicle arranged through State Farm while my vehicle had to go under repairs after being hit by one of their clients. I was told specifically that they need my credit card number to post a $50 deposit which would be refunded when I turned in the vehicle.
My vehicle was completed from repairs on the 22nd of May, at which point I eagerly went to pick up my vehicle. The staff at the shop that repaired my vehicle (Service King) asked for the rental keys and said they would contact them to pick up. The Hertz office said they could not get it because they did not have the staff.
In turn, my account was charged $850 for the rental. State Farm paid for the vehicle up to the 22nd ($550). Hertz charged me saying I had the vehicle until the 28th, and charged me $300 more.
I have spoken with them for the past month and half to resolve this only to be blown off by every manager I have spoken with saying they will have to investigate it. I lost my job as the result of this COVID and need the $300 they have stolen from me. The insurance company shows I picked the car up on the 22nd, the shop has even called to remind them of neglecting to pick up there vehicle. It is ridiculous that they are refusing to pay whats mine because all the facts prove I only had the truck till the 22nd.
Therefore I am going to sue their office for much more than they initially took from me. They obviously have no customer service concerns, because I have read similar stories. I would suggest any who have gone through the same to sue them as well. This is not a worthy business. I heard they are going to be going out of business, but this is no way to save grace by charging false claims.

Well, hopefully people will be able to understand the concept of this message, and not base it on my using the past tense of the word "then" rather than using the word "than". My bad, but I believe people even with just a grade school education will get the jeast of the message (besides morans who stop reading because they saw one grammatical error). Real clever response, has nothing to do with my message.

The auto shop and the rental facility are less than a mile apart. They have had a working relationship for the longest with the understanding that the rental agency would pick the rentals up when the vehicles are completed. For them to not charge hundreds before me, but than want to charge me opens the window to another law suit that could be filed. I've already spoken with my attorney.

There's a HUGE difference between "then" and "than"! This is fairly obvious! Why not learn how and when to use those words properly so everyone knows you have more than a grade school education???

Unless you have something in writing from Hertz that they will pick up the car, if you try and sue them you will lose. Without an agreement from Hertz that they would pick up the car, they can't be held to what the body shop may have told you.
The Insurance company only paid through the 22nd because as you said they have proof you picked up your car on that date. But Hertz didn't get the rental back until the 28th. Until they get it back you as the renter are resonsible for any charges. Just be glad it wasn't stolen or damaged during this time as they would have also held you responsible for that.
You dropped the car off at the Body Shop on the word that they would take care of it. If you do want to sue someone you need to go after the body shop. By them asking for the keys they very likely assumed responsiblity for returning it. If Hertz was unable or unwilling to come, the body shop should have either contacted you or took it upon themselves to return it.
Good Luck
