Hertz rental car bills your credit card for almost invisible toll roads and adds huge adminstrative fees.

It seems like synchronized corruption to steal from hard working people that dare to travel.

1. Poorly marked toll roads without booths or ways to turn around.

2. Unclear small print rental argreements about toll road billing

3. Hidden devices in your car that track vague tolls

4. Hertz never lost system that sends you to private toll roads partnered with Hertz

5. Huge fees and DMV penalties for jumping tolls you never new existed

6. Hertz handing your credit card number out to be billed by other companies.

7. Everything automated behind the scenes so charges and DMV penalties apply before
you even have time to react.

8.  Poor customer service from the toll roads and hertz so you can't research bills.

These are cases I read about why trying to figure out what happened to me.

In my case I had a $19.80 hertz adminstrative fee for taking a toll road for just a few minutes.  I never
even knew I went on a toll road until I received my bill.  I did not do anything wrong. I did not jump a toll.
All did was take my rental car from the airport a short distance to the hotel.

My advice is:

1. Don't rent from Hertz

2. Research the area in the USA you are visiting to see if the state allows private owned toll roads.  Plan your trip to avoid this scam. Unless you want to pay $19 in adminstrative fees in addition to toll road fees to save time on your drive.

3. Please don't pay the fee from Hertz as it should be illegal.  Fight it like me on principal.

I do realize some states allow private toll roads to alleviate traffic.  I do realize private toll road companies want machines not toll booth operators.

However, these companies want profit first and that means.

1. Credit card number sharing and most likely profit sharing with Hertz

2. Poorly marked toll roads with no way to turn-around

3. An incentive to give kick backs to government officials to establish DMV penalty linking.  (I am not stating this is done but the incentive exists).

4. No transparency from Hertz or Toll roads operators and poor customer service.

You have been warned...wish someone had warned me.  We need solutions to our nations traffic jams.  I suggest we go with the google car or other smart
cars or other smart ideas besides letting Hertz scam us.

The toll was hidden and Hertz tacked on extra fees.

I suggest everyone reading this do a Google search on the search term "hertz sucks" and start reading the ~thousands of posts of people complaining and getting scammed.  Knowing to take pictures of your car before driving off the lot is key.  Here are some more suggestions:

You need to use your own navigation system
You need to look out for sneaky fees
You need to plan your route carefully
Use a corporate credit or a credit card that will fight for you.

Read many of the complaints on the internet to understand how to avoid tacked-on fees.  By the way, I was not trying to get away with anything as I just did not like the fees hertz added on for the tolls (which I paid).  I  travel a lot I can tell you in other countries the navigation systems announce the tolls in English.  The tolls I came across on the trip above were hidden. They were not marked. They had no booth and you had no idea you were even on a private toll road. There were no signs. Perhaps maybe they did not even exist and Hertz just made up the extra charges?

Do you work for Hertz, marketing? Is that why your rebuttal was full of lies, assumptions, and anger? You are angry because Hertz is now exposed.

I did not try to jump any tolls or not pay for tolls.  If you read my post, I paid for the tolls. I did not get caught, as I did nothing wrong.  I had issues with the inappropriate add-on fees and the tolls that were not visible. Also, I travel all over on business. In fact, in Europe, the rental cars announce the tolls in English so they are not hidden.

Hertz has numerous complaints across the internet.  I suggest everyone who reads this use Google and use the search term "hertz sucks."  You will be 100% overwhelmed by the massive amount of bad reviews and awful experiences.   Hundreds of people have complained, maybe thousands.  If your company forces you to use Hertz, I suggest you read many of the complaints so you will not get personally scammed. Take pictures of your vehicle and use your own navigation system. Ask your company for a corporate credit card to protect you personally from Hertz when you travel on business. Corporate credit cards often have more protection against fraud.

How exactly is this either Hertz or the local states DMV fault for where YOU drove?? You KNOW they did not tell you to drive on these roads and it was YOUR choice to do so. YOU chose the route YOU wished to travel. If toll roads were included, why did you not just use MapQuest and reroute your trip around those toll roads?? I have traveled all across our great nation. If there is ANY doubt as to if my destination is going to have toll roads, I change my route. YOU did not do this and NOW miraculously its ALL THEIR FAULT for YOUR choices.

Did you ever STOP and THINK?? This is ALL on you. YOU did no research. YOU chose the route and destination. YOU drove the vehicle. Neither the States DMV or Hertz has ANY control over WHERE you drive to and what route YOU took. Stop your crybaby whining and accept the FACT that neither of the entities you have named is responsible for YOUR ACTIONS.

Im a betting man and I bet that you thought you could sneak around on the toll roads since you were in a rental car. Once you returned the rental car ALL of those toll charges came due AND you didnt want to pay them. This is a FAKE RoR!! This "customer" got caught and NOW seeks to blame others for what was TOTALLY in their control.
