Complaint Review: Hertz and Priceline

    Priceline.com shows a picture of a 4dr Nissan Altima as the Standard Size Car from Hertz (The text under picture also say Nissan Altima or similar make/model not guaranteed). 

    When you arrive at Hertz rental counter, you are told you that the Hertz Standard size vehicle is only a Ford Mustang hardtop which obviously you can not fit your luggage or you would have reserved a smaller vehicle in the first place.  Hertz then upgrades you to the 4dr Nissan Altima that you thought you had reserved via Priceline but charges you an upgrade charge (for me it was $10/day) 

    I'm not poor so $70 to get what I wanted in the first place is not my complaint.  My complaint is about the false advertizing scam that seems to be in place between Hertz and Priceline.com.  First, Hertz should be ashamed to advertize a 2dr Foird Mustang as a Standard size car.  Second, Priceline.com should put a picture of a 2dr Mustang on their website and not a 4Dr Nissan Altima. 

    We were traveling to Kuaii and the problem occured at the Hertz counter at the Kuaii airport.  The fact that Hertz refused to give me the 4dr Nissan Altima that I had reserved without the upgrade charge made me feel like I was scammed.  Hertz told me I need to contact Priceline.com.  When I contacted Priceline.com they told me the problem was with Hertz.

    Obviously, Priceline felt they had done something wrong because after our phone conversation, Priceline changed the text under the picture of the 4rd Nissan Altima to read "NISSAN ALTIMA 2DR OR SIMILAR" knowing that most people will still see the picture of the 4dr and conclude this is a reasonable Standard size vehicle. 

    Therefore, the scam continues and people arrive at their vacation site only to find out they must take a 2dr Mustang or pay an upgrade fee to Hertz.

    I will personally never rent from Hertz again since this has never happened to me previously and I travel alot.  As for Priceline.com, it was the first time I had used their service and I again will never use it again.  I can see why there or two additional RipOff Report linking Hertz via Priceline.com.   

    Eventually, a smart lawyer is going to catch up with these companies with a class action for the way they jointly scam their customers.
