Hewlett-Packard Company ripoff Like to place spy ware on new computers and then offer to sell you services to remove it Palo Alto California
Below is what I sent the CEO of HP. Now I do like there products but when a customer has a problem and the item is under warranty what makes them think that the customer would want to pay up front or buy something to correct the problem that started at their factory on OEM installation.
Tried this last week and still can not get your company to aknowledge a little problem with SPY-WARE and offering to help if I pay up front for tech support for a product that was one day old (this from your phone service). Or offering software to purchase to solve the problem that was created by your company. (this was your online help). Last telling me to run system restore to correct the probelm when that would have brought the problem back after Wild Tangent was removed and made it unable to try your game site.(this from your Email support.)
So your company is three for three I am seeing if this number 4 or you might be able to help. Second request

What spyware? I have owned 3 hp computers in the last decade, and IM on my 4th one, including an HP laptop. WHAT spyware are you talking about?
if you want to remove spyware, do a google search for "free spyware removal".
I dont know why you are complaining about something that HP has no control over.

You may not necessarily like the software, but it is not spyware.
It is common for computer makers to have software loaded on the machines that require a purchase or a subscription. Some of the software may be a trial version, while others may require the purchase befor hand.
If you were to do a search on the internet for Wild Tangent, one of the sites offered is pchell. You can thank this site for offering the following information on how to remove the software from your computer:
Manual Removal of Wild Tangent
1) Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel
2) Double-click on Add/Remove Programs
3) Click on the WildTangent selection and Change/Remove, Uninstall, or Add/Remove depending on the operating system. Then follow the onscreen prompts to remove the WT Driver.
4) Now run Hijackthis and fix or Remove the following line (if it exists)
04 - HKLM\..\Run: [WildTangent CDA] RUNDLL32.exe "C:\Program Files\WildTangent\Apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400.dll",cdaEngineMain
You may also have to use Hijackthis and remove the above line if you receive the following error message after using a spyware removal product to try to remove WildTangent
Error Loading C:\Program Files\WildTangent\apps\CDA\cdaEngine0400dll
This specified module could not be found
Follow the rest of these steps if the Control Panel icon or WildTangent folders still remain.
5) Remove the Wild Tangent Driver from the Control Panel if it still exists
Click on Start, Run and type REGEDIT and press Enter
Click on the Plus signs (+) next to the following sections
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SOFTWARE
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion
Control Panel
Cpls
In the right hand column find the line for wtControlPanel, right click on it and Delete it
Close the Windows Registry
6) Delete the WildTangent folder in Program Files and Windows
Open My Computer
Double-click on Drive C
Double-click on Program Files
Right-click on WildTangent and choose Delete (if the folder exists)
Go back to Drive C and double-click on Windows
Right-click on the WT folder and choose Delete (if the folder exists)
Automatic Removal of Wild Tangent
Click on the following link, download the program and run it to remove WildTangent from your system. This program can be found on the following removal page from WildTangent.
