I recently paid $59.99 for 30 days of tech support from HP's "Smart Friend" tech support service because my recently purchased HP Envy 750-280 st repeatedly failed to upgrade to the latest secure version of Windows (1709).  The order taker was not able to resolve the problem but promised I would be called back the next day by a "Level 2 technician."  No one ever called me back.  This happened three times! I called them again each time and they did the same thing each time, three scheduled appointments to call me back (e.g. between 9AM and 11AM on Thursday) and no one ever called me back, not once. When I called a fourth time to request they refund my money, they refused.  Instead, they wanted to make a fourth appointment to have someone call me back.  The whole thing felt like a scam run by call centers overseas. Be warned!  Do not rely on HP's "Smart Friend" tech support service.  They did not keep the promises they made to me, other than charging my credit card, which is the only thing they did efficiently.
