I sent in my laptop to be repaired and it was received October 23rd, I reported it to HP on October 17,2017. I heard nothing except via the h p . com /repair about my laptop. I have 6 different case numbers that I can provide. I was informed 10/30 that there was liquid damage to my laptop, the day that it was supposed to be finished ironically. It is impossible for me to have caused water damage. My laptop is stored in a cupboard with a mouse, keyboard, and monitor attached as well as a heavy-duty laptop fan. It has never come close to liquids. The only way it could have is if this happened via transit or in the warehouse. Upon speaking to Miriam my case manager, she was very unhelpful. She did send me one supposed picture of my laptop with "water damage". It did not have any signs of water damage such as rusting at the soldering points, corrosion, burn marks from shorts etc. What it did have is damage from scratching at the thermal compound on my CPU, I assume to get to test points. They also spilled thermal compound liberally over the motherboard. Usually, this is not possible with the heatsink in place, thus, it has employee damaged The fact there is undisturbed dust on the edges of the motherboard furthers my point.

My original issue was with the power supply burning out I said when I first had an issue as over 2 months my USB ports stopped working one by one. Now, if it were a liquid issue, starting 2 months ago, there would be obvious rusting. I did not see evidence of water damage in these photos, but the thermal compound in the photo provided. Water damage looks completely different than the photo provided.
Furthermore, I was told by another tech that I had cleared a charge to be made for $600 on my card that I used to pay for expedited shipping. When I asked what employee authorized this, she said the place was blank where someone would normally be listed as the employee that authorized this. The tech's name was Sancho Ita and I spoke to her around 6 pm on 10/30. She also claimed that I had been contacted and approved this charge both via email and telephone, which is patently false. Thankfully the charge did not go through because my credit card they used was deactivated a week earlier for unrelated reasons. Still, this is fraud committed on multiple levels by HP techs, management, and billing.
Miriam 10/30/17 said initially the charges to fix the laptop were $900 dollars, then lowered it to the $600 like the previous person said. She ensured me what Sancho Ita said was impossible. If that is so, how was this listed on my account that Sancho Ita saw? Was it deleted? Because charging without my permission is indeed a fraudulent thing.

I spoke to someone higher up named Alec, who seems to lack a basic understanding about how computers work, where components are located, and the usual "cover my butt" and deny were wrong" stance. This is a massive mishandling so much so that its ridiculous. Alec said they will have another tech look at it after fighting him about this issue. I do not have faith in this second look, the company is in too deep to admit they were wrong and the repairs needed are pricey. I think that is why they are saying its caused by me. They're trying to cheat and scam me.
This was a simple hardware malfunction, a flaw in the hardware manufacturing or assembly of the power connections and power supply. The techs further damaged it and rather than getting into trouble, they tried to defraud me. This is not a "customer induced damage" as is being claimed. The only recourse here to me is to fix my laptop at no cost, as per my warranty or send me a new one of the same model.
