HEWLETT PACKARD MADE ME CRAZY WITH INK CARTRIDGE PROBLEMS ripoff INTERNET NATIONWIDE

WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSHING TO FIND A JOB (I HAD BEEN LAID OFF), AND STAYING WITH MY MOTHER (I HAD NO PRIVACY, SO I HAD TO RUSH THROUGH EVERYTHING), MY HEWLETT PACKARD PRINTER DECIDED TO START PLAYING GAMES WITH ME.
I HAD A BRAND NEW BLACK INK CARTRIDGE, WHICH IS ALL ONE NEEDS FOR A JOB RESUME. BUT MY COLOR INK CARTRIDGE RAN OUT, AND DISABLED MY WHOLE PRINTER. (THIS HAD NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE.)
I CALLED FOR CUSTOMER SERVICE, BUT SINCE MY PRINTER WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, I GOT NO HELP. ALSO, THERE IS NO ONLINE TECHNICAL HELP FOR THIS. SO I WASTED THE AFTERNOON TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG, AND ALL IT WAS WAS A TRICK BUILT INTO THEIR SYSTEM TO GET YOU TO BUY A NEW COLOR INK CARTRIDGE. (THIS, WHEN I WAS UNEMPLOYED!)
I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HP PRINTER AND WILL TELL EVERYONE ELSE NOT TO.

I have a brother 3220 C.
The reason I say this is if the COlor Ink is low it locks out the Fax, Scanner, the works!
PAIN in the butt.
I know this may not help you but it may make you feel better it is not just HP.

Did you select Properties... Advanced... Print in Greyscale

The printer does not 'know' what you are actually printing- the printer only knows what you ASK it to do. The default is "Print in Color".
You must select "Properties...Advanced...Print in Greyscale" when the HP printer window pops up....
