I bought an HP tx1000 notebook about 2 years ago. The laptop is dead for about 3 months now and the cause of the problem is a design flaw on the graphics chip. It seems that the defective nvidia chipset is overheating and after some time (ironically shortly after warranty expires) it dies, rendering the laptop unusable.

Models that are affected by defective graphic cards include:
HP 6000
HP 8000
HP 9000
And the entire tx1000 and tx2000 family

Although HP has recall the 6000, 8000 and 9000 series for free repair because of the defective graphics chipset, it refuses to recall the tx1000 and tx2000.
