I also have been a victim of hewlett packard's product "support". I purchased a HP Officejet K60 for $350.00 with my Dell system in January of 2001. It worked alright in the beginning, but I began to have problems with an error message that the "wrong printer color cartridge" was installed when I tried printing. I went back and forth with HP on-line/by telephone who would instruct me to clean the contact points. I also bought new cartridges which did not solve the problem. Cleaning the contact points would work on occasion for awhile and sometimes not at all. I would like to point out I know they were the correct cartridges because the originals were factory installed and the printer would work with them for short periods of time. I eventually gave up in frustration and asked Hewlett Packard to direct me to a repair facility to get it fixed. I expected HP to take care of the cost because the problem was an obvious manufacturing defect. I explained the problem, and was told it would cost me a minimum of $25.00 to look at the problem (no mention of the possible cost of repair), because it was out of warranty, and regardless of the fact it was a manufacturing defect. I went to Dell with my problem who promptly sent me a new printer free of charge. They DO have some idea about customer service is. So much for my $350.00 printer. HP obviously does NOT stand behind their products. Consumers beware! Stacey Anonymous, Washington
