I have a 1.5 year old HP desktop pavillion computer. (I bought this before I was converted to the goodness of Apple!) I called hp tech support tonight because of an ongoing problem with extremely slow download speeds, approx 30 KBPS, where my mac computer gets 3 MBPS. The reason that made me call today was whenever I played a game (WoW, Command and Conquer, Hp Games Console, Realflight G4 etc.) the computer would be likely to crash within 5 mins of starting the game. So for these two issues I called HP.

After talking to someone with a light accent, he talked me into spending $50 or so for a 3 day tech support package. He also said there would be refunds if they were unable to fix my problem. He transferred me to the tech support people. She had an extremely thick accent, and I had to ask her to repeat every thing she said twice! After spending 10 minutes giving her my contact info, she finally told me that I couldn't have both problems fixed, and I was misinformed. I asked for a refund, and was pressured to buy a $150 package where you get 6 months of unlimited tech support. I further insisted on a refund, so I got it. I wasted 40 minutes.
DO NOT BUY FROM HP, THEY SUCK! BUY APPLE! NO FOREIGN TECH SUPPORT! NO PROBLEMS!

I am thinking about calling back and have a similar problem go in the same direction, but have it recorded and posted on youtube!!

Internet speeds are likely NOT HPs fault.

Your slow downloads were likely caused by either an ISP problem or your home network (if you have one). Do some basic research before going off on HP about something that isn't their fault.

Now, as to their support. I agree that it is often hard to understand them (this is becomming more and more common these days), but I have NEVER been pressured or even asked to buy any support package. The only thing you should have to pay for is an out-of-warrenty repair, and ONLY if you send it in.
