We are self -employed and fell on hard times. We asked HFC/Beneficial for a loan modification.  After several months and two advance payments, we were approved for the modification.  Payments were to begin in july 2012.

Six days before payment was due tried to make the payments and could not.  Tried calling and we were  sent from one person to another with no success.    We found out that after they asked us for the advance payments to get the hardship modification going they sold the account to an attorney.  We have yet to get any response as to why HFC/Beneficial does not have to honor their modification agreement.  Does anyone know if they are obligated to honor their modification letter?
