Complaint Review: Hi Tech Moving and Storage

I contacted Hi Tech Moving out of Hollywood, FL for a move from NC to MI. After Hi Tech took my deposit, they defaulted on the day of the move, 6/15/02. After the initial excuse the morning of the move, they never called me back. I initiated every follow up phone call for the next 2 days.

Initially they claimed their truck was in an accident and they would be a couple of hours late. Hour by hour the pickup time was pushed back until they said they would come the next morning. Of course they didn't come and I had to force them to find another company to complete the job. I had to make several more phone calls before they agreed to surrender the name and phone number of the moving company they subcontracted.

The subcontracted company, US Movers out of Greensboro, NC took over and arrived later the same day. They charged me over $2000 above my original price and then delivered my furniture 6 days later than they had promised. US Movers also said I had to deal directly with them. I had paid Hi Tech an initial deposit of $334 which they would not refund. Both companies claim that Hi Tech transferred that money to US Movers and it was subcontracted from my final bill. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional company than Hi Tech. They are completely disreputable and should not be in business.
