Witnessed a guard named Reuben hitting a 17-year old while waiting in line for an event called the Homohop, at 5ive nightclub in Toronto on March 18, 2006. Reuben MAY have been drunk, as I saw him drinking something that resembled beer.

This is not the first time I witnessed his bad actions.

Reuben should NOT be working as a security guard if he intends to assault patrons.

Called the number listed for High Profiles, got a pager's answering machine, left a message, got no response.

Some Suggestions For You

#2Consumer Suggestion

Thu, September 28, 2006

I have been employed in private security contracting for several years and I have several suggestions for you.

1. Get the victim to report this behavior to the authority that is responsible for licensing guard companies and individuals.

FOR A COMPLAINT TO BE EFFECTIVE, IT HAS TO BE IN WRITING! A phone call won't cut it. They can always erase their answering machine and then you have ZIP!

You need to put in the complaint what happened, where did it happen, who did it happen to and who was responsible for the incident happening, when it happened --date and time ( approximate time is OK), how it happened!

Also, who witnessed it.

Why didn't you call the constables ( Canadian local police) when it happened? If I was a judge I would want to know why you didn't call the police when you saw the assault happen! Then you could use the police report as the basis for filing your complaint with the Board that regulates security companies and their personnel.

You would have also needed the names of at least two or three witnesses.

It would have been also GREAT if you had captured the incident on videotape. A vidcam is well worth the investment!

A duplicate video of the incident ( More than one would have been great --Make sure you get a good close up of the person who is beating the other person!) plus a certified victim statement as described above --NOTARIZED -- and a copy of the POLICE REPORT all sent to the governmental licensing agency for security agencies AND their personnel would almost definitely get an investigation on this person started and probably cost him the right to ever work in that industry again! Ever. At least in Canada.

You might want to include a doctor's statement with that in case the victim had to go to the hospital as a result of the beating.

If you had called the cops and theu had arrested him and IF the victim had opted to file charges (and he should!) and the acse went to trial and the guy who committed the assault was CONVICTED, he WOULD NEVER be licensed as a security personnel again.

Or if this creep is an in -house security person at the Club, you can call the club, ask to speak to the manager and tell him that you and all of your friends will be taking your club business elsewhere. If he asks why, you tell him that the overaggressive, mean security person outside is the reason and hang up.

2. NOW that you have got all your ducks in a row and released this brew from hell onto the assaulter, you can file a civil suit -- which only needs a preponderance of evidence --and you will need the ORIGINALS of all the stuff you turned in on him to the licensing and/ or regulatory board for private security agencies and personnel and YOU FILE A HUGE CIVIL SUIT!

You now own a club where it took place, whatever the owner(s) were/was not smart enough to not put in his/her own name, you own everything Rueben has or ever will have... and the security company if there was one --that hired Rueben. Sue it as a corporation and sue everyone connected with it, starting with his supervisor and everyone up the chain of command individually! You can also sue the manufacturer of any weapons that he used during the commission of the assault...
THIS IS NOT INTENDED FOR LEGAL ADVISE. FOR LEGAL ADVISE,PLEASE CONSULT A DUTIFULLY LICENSED ATTORNEY OF THE COUNTRY OR STATE IN WHICH YOU LIVE TO SEE WHAT OPTIONS YOU HAVE IN A LEGAL MATTER.

And when you win your suit, PLEASE remember RIP OFF REPORT and donate a few hundred dollars to them in appreciation for making theirwonderful service available to the public!

I hope you have a legitimate grievance and are not mad because this guy would not go out with you or something like that... Because you should have called the cops the FIRST TIME you saw an assault. To NOT call the cops and to let this guy keep ASSAULTING people ---the BLAME is on YOU!
