I said i couldn't decide today b/c i had to figure out my finances. They convinced me that this was the only time i could sign the paperwork and i could cancel in 5 business days if i wanted anyway. I figured there was no harm. WRONG ASSUMPTION! In a couple days, i emailed both guys who processed my paperwork and called multiple times. Nobody returned my calls. The email ended up being wrong and it was printed on a business card. The number was also for someone else. I finally shuffled through the paperwork and found out there was another email to get a hold of Christie Resorts, so i emailed them. They said sorry I was too late to cancel even though i had been trying for a week already. The reps made me promise to call to talk to them before i canceled. I'm sure they do this to delay you so then you can't cancel. I tried to dispute the charges with my bank because they are over $1000 and everything was ok until recently when they told be Christie Resorts was correct and are now taking the money back out of my account. Now i can't afford my mortgage. I'm still in the middle of this dispute faxing in all my emails to them. Buried in the paperwork that the reps don't tell you is that they define business days as weekends too even though the dictionary and every normal person describes them as other than weekends and holidays. Also, they did not consider my emails to the reps as counting as a cancel.

The reps convinced me to sign the paperwork because I could cancel later, but there in fact is no way to cancel.  The business cards they gave me when they asked me to promise to call them if I decided to cancel had wrong info on them. The emails came back unreceived and the numbers were for different people.  When I finally shuffled through the paperwork, there was an email for the resort directly. When I emailed them saying I had been trying to cancel for days now, they said sorry, I was too late and wouldn't talk to me.  Also in the paperwork was one small sentence saying that business days include the weekend, which is not true by Webster nor anybody's standards.  I have since been fighting a dispute with the bank ever since. Do not sign their paperwork only to cancel later. You will not be able to!  Do not be fooled by them.

Highlands resort in lawsuit investigated by Consumer Affairs in Denver

So, we don't have to get in suiting here. I'm only reporting my first-hand experience. The name Christie Resorts was on the wall inside the room is heard the talk in, so I beg to differ about my knowledge and experience regarding this company. They were great while I was there. The problem was all the false information they have me that made it impossible to follow through on. Consumer affairs in Denver contacted me because there were so many people taken advantage of here in Denver? I'm not sure, but I didn't call them first. They washed all my documentation and witness. They only investigate issues that receive the most attention (they told me) which leads me (and hopefully anybody reading this) that obviously Highlands resorts had been a problem for most people that decoded not to invest in their program after they left the room. Again, this is only my experience and the facts, but your emotion, personal interest, and offense, lead me to believe you work for them.

#3Consumer Comment

i read your report filing and would like to clear some things up for the consumers reading the negative report. I went to a Highlands Resorts timeshare presentation in August of 2014.  i have been on several timeshare presentations and found Highlands Resorts to be one of the best experiences.  The staff was fun, knowledgeable, and straight forward.  Yes, the agents are on commission, this is real estate, they are licensed Real Estate Brokers. Long story short, I saw the benefit of owning and bought.  Since then everything has been as promised and I stay in contact with my agent for the referrals that I have sent.  (I also went back into their office and bought a second ownership in Feb 2015).  Yes the gift I received had a lot of hoops to jump through and I didn't use it. But, what do you want?  It's free.

To the person the wrote this complaint: You obviously are an uneducated consumer in general.  First of all you mentioned Christie Resorts, there is no such thing as Christie Resorts.  Highlands Resorts is the broker and Christie Lodge is the property you are purchasing, (get your facts straight).  Secondly, the 5 day rescission period is a law protection for consumers and is stated in the contract the many ways you can rescind if you feel the need (did you not re-read and understand the contract??). Third, why did you buy a timeshare property if you knew you were putting your house in jeopardy?  (know your financial status).

in my opinion the report I'm rebuttaling against is not credible, its just another uneducated consumer who should understand a little more about a product, review the contract, and ask a lot questions.  Real Estate Brokers are licensed and are strictly monitored by the State they are licensed in.
