On August 15, History Book Clubs charged my credit card for $60.00 for books that they sent unsolicited.  I immediately returned the books when they arrived (which can be done per their written agreement) and waited for them to reverse the charge on my credit card.  When, by the 15th of September the charge had not been reversed, I called the number on my credit card statement and they assured me it would be reversed.  One week goes by, not reversed.  I called again, they again assured me it would be reversed.  I had several more conversations with them to check on the status of the refund.   Two weeks ago I called and left them a message that they were most likely in violation of any and all Mastercard/Visa regulations as well as any DMA (Direct Marketing Assn) code of ethics if they were a member.  I have called the NY number no less than 5 times and spoken to another representative of theirs at their 800 number at least 4 times.  Last week they told me the reversal was done.  When I inquired as to the last 4 digits of the credit card number, it wasn't one of mine.  When asked why it wasn't credited to the same number they had no answer.  On Monday I spoke to the representative on the 800 number and she assured me the credit would be applied to the correct credit card.  It is now Wednesday and no credit anywhere to be found.

I have been a member of HBC for several years, and that is why I waited almost two months to write this report in the hope that it was an honest mistake, but the continual lack of action is extremely concerning.
