HMI Industries - HealthMor - Phoenix Group - Ricardo Reyes - Emmery Myers ripoff, fraud, liars, scams Galesburg Illinois
I received a telephone call from the Phoenix Group offering free coupons if I would allow them to demonstrate an air filter in my home. I was told that the coupons were free with no purchase necessary and that the demo would only take about 20 minutes. The coupons have to be purchased on the Internet the cost is $2.00 for every $10.00 worth of coupons. The demonstration took 8 hours.
The filters are actually Filter Queen sweepers. During the demonstration we were told that these filters would improve allergies, prevent SIDS, do anything our shop-vac would do. We were interested and agreed to purchase the sweeper and 2 air purifiers at a negotiated price. The salesman had to go back to Galesburg to get another air filter, we discussed the purchase while he was gone and decided we really not to buy them.
I called the company and informed them that we would be returning everything when the salesman returned, that way he would return our check to us then. We had made a payment of $59.27. When he returned he acted surprised that we were returning everything, he did not have our check.
While we were trying to refuse this filter (sweeper), he was on our telephone with his boss. When we were trying to discuss how to get him out of our home we went to a different part of the house to talk alone and the salesman followed us, still on the phone with his boss who was I assume telling him what to say to us. He was relaying back and forth, at one point telling his boss that since we were refusing it he must have done something to make us mad at him. I explained that we could not afford it. He could not comprehend how a family with one income and two children could not afford a $1650.00 sweeper.
He implied that if we were really good parents we would buy these for the health benefits of our children. He kept pushing that this filter prevents SIDS, he was basically insinuating that my newborn was going to die if we didn't buy it. After several attempts to get him out of our house we agreed to try it for the 3 days and we told him we would be returning it after the 3 days and he told us we could try it for a month to get the full affect of its quality, then if we still wanted to return it we could.
After several attempts to get him to leave we finally said we would keep it and try it, After all he said we had 30 days to return it. At 10:30 p.m. he finally left, but not before telling me what a great deal we were getting on this never been used before sweeper.
I tried it and I am not satisfied with it. It has not improved my families' allergies. It does not do everything my shop-vac does. I cannot find anything to prove that it prevents SIDS. I contacted the company and they refuse to allow me to return it. I was told I can not return it because I used it in my home, it had been longer than three days, the machine had already been replaced and they would not get their money back from the state tax and what they paid the salesman. Then I was told that the salesman gets commission for what he sells, however, the salesman informed me that he would not get commission for selling this sweeper.
After many conversations with the company I have also been told that they can not tell me for sure if the sweeper I have is in fact brand new or whether it has been used in other demos or returned from another buyer.
I would like to return this sweeper because I am not satisfied with its performance and have discontinued using it. The company has not met with any of their promises based on its performance and their business tactics are questionable if not fraudulent. I feel I was conned into purchasing this with their tactics of saying and promising anything to sell it.
