I have a 2003 Ford Windstar van. On 3/13/08 the front wheel bearings and hubs were replaced.

Fords warranty on parts and labor is 12 months/12000 miles.

On 11/5/08 the right front hub bearing was found by Holder Ford to be defective and was replaced free of charge.

On 4/1/08 the right front hub bearing again went out. I called Holder Ford and was told I was 2 weeks out of warranty, but to bring in the van for a free inspection, and maybe they could replace it for free.

I brought it in, and they confirmed that the right front hub was bad, and the van unsafe to drive. A call was made by the technician to Fords nationwide Customer Service. I was told they could not get authorization to do a free repair. They offered to do the repair at cost. ($147.00). I did not have the money.

I went home and reread all paperwork from them, including their warranty.

I called them back and told them they had made a mistake. It had not been 12 months or 12000 miles since they replaced their own defective part. It had only been 6 months. I was told at that time that the warranty goes back to the original date of 3/13/08.

How can this be? Their warranty is contradictory! It clearly states 12 months/12000 miles on parts and labor. The right hub bearing replaced on 11/5/08 THEY found to be defective. Their own warranty should apply!

My name is Jeani and I work for Ford Motor Comany. I'm not sure what happened in your situation or exactly who you contacted. I would recommend that you call the Ford Customer Service Relationship Center (CRC) at 1-800-392-3673. Have your VIN, the repair order (if possible), the name of your dealership, and the name of the person you spoke to at the dealership. The CRC Representative would be in the best position to help you resolve your concern. Thank you
