I had the unfortunate pleasure of needing representation as an African-American man for the first time in my life. This is due to being cited for a misdemeanor in Cobb County, just after being pulled over by a police officer, to which upon the initial approach by the officer, I was asked " how could I afford this type of vehicles ".

While going through the contact process with the police officer, I was arrested. Without question, after fully complying 3/4's or the way through the contact with the officer, I asked a couple of questions and the officer began to exhibit aggressive traits and immediately made the decision to arrest me.

Well, after being completely humiliated during the entire arrest, intake process and bonding experience, I began to seek representation.

I met with Philip Holloway at his law firm at: 399 Washington Ave Marietta, GA 30060 and discussed my case.  Mr. Holloway of course discussed his credentials, including his stint as an officer and prosecutor for Cobb County, GA and assured me that the officer had a long track record of questionables activity and he could and would meet with the police chief to see if the matter could be resolved.  When asked, Mr. Holloway explained, he had access to the police chief, due to their on-going golfing relationship.

Well, like most people who have been thrust into the system for the first time, I hired Mr. Holloway, as this individual advertised himself as an " exceptional defense attorney " and he understood the particulars of this case and it felt " winnable ".

Fast-forward $4500.00 and 2 years later, Mr. Holloway began to make himself less available, less interested and less responsive.  Ultimately, I went to court and was represented by an attorney who couldn't articulate a preliminary strategy if I opted to go to court. Well, after realizing I employed arguably the most disinterested attorney who was paid in full within 45 days of a signed agreement to represent me, I pled, simply because I was exhausted by the system and was accompanied by representation of the system.

In closing, this attorney is a " snakeskin " sales person who will market what appears to be " professional abilities " while pledging his allegiance to the officers in blue in the background. Yes, he represents officers in extreme cases and it has to be extremely profitable feeding the unsuspecting to the machine.

Why Lie? Here's my Truth!

#4Consumer Comment

Thu, July 30, 2015

I’m not sure what is motivating the person who posted such a comment and Truth be told, I really don’t care. What I really do care about is the Truth! Here’s my Truth regarding my personal, two time experience with Mr. Philip Holloway.  I apologize for the length; however, I feel my story needs to be told in its entirety so you can really determine the Truth from a lie!

First, allow me to set the record straight…I’m a “Black American female”. I am an “African American female”. I am a “Person of Color”. I am whatever one of these labels you choose to relate to in order to understand exactly where I am coming from. Regardless, I hope you get my point.

Second, I am the proud mother of an “African American”, “Black American”, “Person of Color”, (whatever label you choose) Adult Male, who I hired Mr. Philip Holloway to represent on two separate cases, at two different times. One being a dui in 2013 and then a probation violation in 2015.

Third, my family has resided in Cobb County for over 20 years.

Last, but certainly not least, we are from a military background, and yes, my son serves in the military. Here’s my journey and my Truth:

First Experience: January 2013

Upon my son getting his first dui in Cobb County, in a panic I called around to some friends in search of a great attorney and Mr. Philip Holloway was recommended to me.  After I received his name, research him on Avvo and Google. He had good, solid reviews, but Truth be told they did not measure up to how good Mr. Holloway turned out to be.

As a person of Godly faith, prior to calling Mr. Holloway I said a prayer and afterward I moved forward with the call. I explained to him the situation, and that the matter at hand required immediate attention because we were dealing with a military member who was currently in jail, but had to report to duty within 24 hours. Mr. Holloway, being a former military man understood the sense of urgency and he saw me immediately. During the course of my visit he made a call to the jail and within 8 hours or less my son was not only released, he even had his driver’s license returned to him so he could drive to his place of duty! That was just the first step of this journey.

About a week later we met with Mr. Holloway to begin planning the defense. At this meeting Mr. Holloway made it perfectly clear that he would be in no rush to settle this matter because his ultimate goal was have the most successful outcome as possible considering all the evidence.

Days went by and turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, and months turned into over a year, with our hearing dates constantly being postponed. Throughout this time Mr. Holloway was patient, diligent and calculating. We on the other hand were the complete opposite of patient; after about 9 months we just wanted it all to go away. However, Mr. Holloway reassured us to just hold on. He wasn’t happy at all with what the prosecutor was offering. They wanted to throw the book at my son, meaning no reduction at all, jail time, loss of license, and reporting probation. They weren’t willing to budge and we couldn’t believe it. Especially since this was my son’s first dui, with no accidents or injuries and no adult or juvenile criminal record.

Needless to say, we listened to his sage advice, exhausted, we held on, and OMG are we ever glad that we did! On November 4th, 2014, almost 2 years later our case was finally heard and Mr. Holloway did what we thought was impossible, he got the DUI reduced to reckless driving, there was no suspension of license, only 11 months of NONE reporting probation and my son, was able to plea Nolo Contendere, so no points went against his license!

2nd Experience – May 5th, 2015

I went out to check the mail. In the box was a letter from the Cobb County Sheriff Department post marked April 30th. Since my adult child was on probation for their first dui, which had been reduced to reckless driving, I knew immediately that anything coming from the sheriff’s office couldn’t be good, and true to form it wasn’t! It was a notice dated April 28th, 2015 that my child was in violation of their probation and that a warrant dated March 25th, 2015, over 30 days before the actual letter was mailed, had been issued.

Immediately my son called Mr. Holloway, who had successfully defended them on their first ever dui case, (having gotten it successfully reduced to reckless driving) and they told Mr. Holloway about their current problem. Mr. Holloway immediately called their probation officer and she informed him that his client’s urine had trace amounts of alcohol in it and that they were in violation of their probation. Mr. Holloway then called my son and proceeded to tell him what the violation was; since he had no clue, due to the fact that the letter didn’t specify, nor did the probation officer ever contact him prior to issuing the warrant to even tell him. Mr. Holloway then advised him to go and turn himself in immediately, which is what he did on May 5th, 2015.

During the time my son was in the county jail Mr. Holloway did what he does best, and he went to work on the case. Within a few hours of my child turning themself in, I received a call from Mr. Holloway’s very competent assistant, Lea. She graciously informed me that Mr. Holloway had managed to get my child’s case on the judge’s calendar for May 7th! Within 2 days!!! This is simply unheard of!!!

Now on the day of court, May 7th, the judge was sentencing people back to back. Apparently this was the day for hearing probation violators! I couldn’t stomach it so I left the courtroom to get some air, because I was certain my son was about to have to serve time for their violation. Before I could reenter the courtroom Mr. Holloway was out in the hallway walking toward me. I couldn’t determine at all by the look on his face what the outcome was, so I simply sat down and prayed. Mr. Holloway then told me that my son was free and I could pick them up in a few hours!!! He also told me that there were no changes in their liberal probation and that everything would remain the same. Once again, Mr. Holloway came through for us.

If Mr. Holloway had a racist bone in his body, he could have simply said, “I’m too busy and I can’t take your son’s case”.  Lord knows he certainly would have been justified, because in the past matter, as a frantic mother, I wasn’t the easiest client to deal with.  I must say too, that by no means, did he have to work in such an expeditious manner or strive to get the amazing results that he did.

I have trusted Mr. Holloway, a Cobb County attorney, former police officer, former prosecutor with one of my most precious gifts, my son; a Black man, an African American man, a man of Color!  I have done this not once but twice. Each time praying first, and leaning on the will of God.  Each time ending in a blessing.  Therefore, if you are reading this, the only message I sincerely want to convey to you is this: In my very personal and emotionally charged experience not once has Mr. Holloway’s level of commitment, dedication, loyalty, character or moral compass ever waivered.  I firmly believe without a shadow of a doubt that if Mr. Philip Holloway was a racist, a man donned in snake skin, a man of questionable ethics, a wolf in sheep clothing, etc…my Omnipotent God, my Heavenly Father who is the Creator of all things, whom I have immeasurable and unquestionable faith in, certainly would not have led me to him.  That you can believe without a shadow of a doubt because that’s my truth. Proverbs 12:22 (gnt) – The Lord hates a liar, but is pleased with those who keep their word!

Philip Holloway is an excellent Attorney

I completely disagree with the complaint report. I needed representation in a legal matter myself. Having never needed any type of legal representation I also did research of several attorneys. My research came from questioning several attorneys that I know personally. All agreed that Philip Holloway was the person who should handle my case. Being somewhat familiar with the legal process I went into this process with no un-realistic expectations. Mr. Holloway spoke to me about every option available and gave me no false hope. The few times I called I either spoke to him or he immediately called me back when he was available. My situation was handled quickly, fairly and with better than expected results. Six months after this I recommended him to a family member who hired Mr. Holloway. His case turned out remarkable with excellant results that no one expected. I recommend Holloway Law Group to anyone that is need of fair, honest and proffesional legal results. Should I ever need representation again there is no more research to be done by me.

Can't Possibly Be True

There is nothing about this scenario that even remotely sounds like any case I have ever handled. Since this is posted by "anonymous" I have no way to specifically respond. However I have reviewed my files and cannot find and case remotely resembling the facts alleged. Most of the information about me contained in this report is readily available on the internet so it is easy to fabricate something like this. That being said, what makes me certain that it is not legitimate, besides being a completely false description of my work ethic, is that "anonymous " says that I would contact the police chief who is a golfing buddy. Well guess what - I don't even play golf. Furthermore, when I negotiate on behalf of a client I negotiate with prosecutors - not police chiefs. That is how the criminal justice system works. In addition, misdemeanor case that takes more than two years to complete, as alleged, would generally cost someone more than the fee described. Misdemeanor traffic offenses however, other than DUI, would not cost someone the fee alleged by "anonymous". The most interesting thing about this, other than it being entirely inconsistent with virtually every other client review about me, is that I am being asked to pay thousands of dollars to ask for the posting to be removed. I don't believe this is a real former client but if it is - it is someone who is deliberately misleading others. Here is an example of a real review from a real client: THE BEST EXPERIENCE I COULD HAVE HOPED FOR. I recently faced a legal problem that had the very real possibility of costing me my career of 25 plus years. I was fortunate that someone I trust referred me to Philip Holloway because now everything has been completely dismissed. I interviewed at least 3 other lawyers before hiring him but it was the best decision I could have made. If you need a lawyer in Cobb County Philip Holloway is the person for the job. It was obvious from watching him in court that the judge and other lawyers have a great respect for him. You're in great hands if you trust him with your issue - whatever it is.
