A year ago, a friend came in from out of town and we decided to rent two DVD's. We rented the DVD's at night and returned them in the "24 return box" the very next morning before they opened.

A month or so later I got a call saying the DVD's were never returned. I told the manager that I personally returned them with a friend. (My guess is that someone with access to the store decided to keep the DVD's) Being a former loss prevention officer, I suggested that the DVD's might have been stolen by an employee.

At that point, it was the only reasonable explanation. The manager stated that that does not happen at their stores. If that is true, it's the first store I've ever heard of that doesn't have to worry about internal theft.

After being routed to customer service lines and staying on hold for hours, I was told that their was nothing they could do for me and I would be charged for those videos. They wouldn't even try to obtain a security video of that morning of which I know would have shown me returning the DVD's.

The really bad part is that I have been a customer of this chain for years and always paid any late fees in a timely fashion. Never had any accusations about not returning DVD's or anything before.
