Hollywood Video Ripoff Movies not checked in when returned Invalid Late Fees Manager not willing to help Newark Delaware
Tonight, we attempted to rent a DVD at Hollywood Video in Newark, DE as we do quite often. We were quite surprised when we were told that we owed late fees on movies that were supposedly not turned in on time. The clerk stated that the movies had not been returned until Thursday afternoon when we had actually returned it Wednesday evening. We had actually handed the movie directly to a clerk to ensure that it would be checked in. When we talked to the manager in charge, she (Dawn) was completely unwilling to listen and waive the fee despite the fact that we have had this account since 1998 without a late fee EVER. Rather than wasting my time writing to store managers, district managers, and fighting for $4.00 (which I should not have to do anyway), I will simply not rent there again. BE WARNED that this is not a lone case.. there is actually a class action lawsuit against Hollywood on this..Avoid having this happen to you and do not rent from Hollywood Video.

The reason the employees do not want to void off late fees is because they are in danger of being fired every time they delete fees.
I am not willing to lose my job because sosmeone doesnt want to pay a late fee. sometimes people say they were a day ealy in fact that they were a day late. seeing how they got their days mixed up opr thought it was a 7 day fee. regardless I have told every customer that if they are disputing late fees, to NOT PAY THEM. We are just going to tell you about them until you call corpt hell you guys call corpt wehn we follow the rulse by not letting you use more than one coupon at a time. or when I tell you that our bathroom is broken again due to the fact you dont tell us when it overflows. So why not call to get you fee taken off. I could care less. I do not make comission on late fees or anything there. A co worker got fired for taking off late fees. They ASSumed that he was stealing because of all the fees. He just didnt want anyone to yell at him. The company sucks they want the money for the fees yet they make the hollywood employee bad guy when it comes to collecting.
